Then you stuff the laser pistol as deep down into your pocket as you can and hope it stays put.

    You jump.

    The air rushes past you as you begin to fall downward.  You reach out to grab onto the repair access ladder, but you can't.  You slam into the wall beside the ladder.  Unfortunately, you keep falling down the shaft.  As you fall, you realize that you'll never get close enough to the ladder to grab onto it again.

    For the first seconds of the fall, you think you hear a loud sound in the lift shaft.  But then you realize that it is your voice, as you scream at the top of your lungs.  The bottom of the shaft comes rushing up to meet you...
