The pirate chases you around the corner, between stacks of crates, and you bump into one on your way around the next corner.  It tips over, and the stack falls on top of the pirate as you run back for the lift.  You hear the pirate grunt as he throws the crates off of himself and jumps to his feet.  Then you hear the sound of his laser pistol!  You run for the lift, but the laser hits right beneath your feet.

    There is a loud boom! as the deck underneath you vaporizes.  The shock of the explosion throws you to the floor.  But because you were running, you are thrown toward the lift, and the laser pistol on the floor.  You jump back to your feet before the pirate can shoot again, and you run for the lift.  As another laser blast hits the floor behind you, you bend down and scoop up the pistol.

    You dive into the lift.  As you hit the floor, you try to reach up with one leg and kick the "close" button to shut the doors on the lift.  The pirate comes charging toward the lift, with his pistol aimed right at you.  You try to fire the weapon, but the trigger doesn't move.  You reach for the "close" button again, and hit it with your foot.  The doors to the lift begin to slide shut.  You try to move up against one wall of the lift.  Three red bolts of laser fire hit the back wall of the lift, before the doors close.

    You catch your breath and relax a bit.  At least you're safe for now.
