"You don't want to blow up those bombs while you're still on this ship," Williams says.
"No, but the threat should be enough for you to back off. And I have this hostage," Lothair says. He pokes at you with the laser pistol. Then he points the pistol at Williams.
That's when you spring into action. You grab the arm that holds the pistol, and you jab your elbow back into his stomach as hard as you can. Lothair doubles partway over, and you manage to grab his laser pistol. You snatch it away, but then Lothair grabs onto you.
Nobody can get a good view of Lothair alone, so they don't try to stun him. Then he throws you at the Spacers. You land on top of Williams and the others in a tangled heap of people. As you get up, you realize that Lothair has already made the run for another ship--the Starfalcon!
"No way," Williams says.
But it's too late. As you, Williams, and the others reach the Starfalcon, you realize that Lothair didn't go aboard. There are three Spacers guarding the Starfalcon's gangway.
"He went thataway!" One of the guards points toward a hatch in the floor of the cargo bay.
"He's stealing an escape pod!" Williams says. You hear the whoosh! as the escape pod is thrown from the Farragut, and flies off into space. You walk back to where you fought against Lothair, and you notice that the bomb control is still here. He must have dropped it. You press the green button on the control, and a small display on the control says that the bombs have been completely disarmed.
You might have won against the infamous Ian Moriarty Lothair today, but will he return?
Later in the
day, you and the other Spacers celebrate a bittersweet victory party.
At least Lothair didn't win this battle. But the war is not over.
Not by a long shot.
THE END?
