And all those people will become slaves to the space pirates, including you, if you don't help stop Lothair. An opportunity to help stop the pirates just happens to drop right into your lap.
"Shawn!" you remember the voice. It's Captain Williams, from the Starfalcon.
"I thought the pirates took you as a prisoner," you say.
"They thought they did too. But when they put us on that stolen Tal'adaar'aan ship of theirs, they couldn't get their force field to work. So we jumped the pirates, and disarmed them. Lothair will throw a fit when he finds out that we Spacers were able to trap his pirates inside their own force field. On our way off the ship, we also found about fifty slaves trapped in another force field. We got that one turned off and let the slaves go." Captain Williams pauses after telling his story. "So, what about you, Shawn?"
You tell about how you sneaked into the lift capsule, and how you were almost ejected into space. Then, you explain how you used the service platform to get to Deck 121.
"So here I am," you say at the end of your story.
"I knew you had the guts to be a Spacer," Williams claps you on the back. He has a wide grin on his face. His smile fades, and then he speaks:
"Lothair left bombs all over this ship. I was wondering, do you know anything about electronics, maybe enough to defuse any bombs?"
"I took a class in electronics back before the Hai'mekha attack. I'd have to take a look at the bomb and its wiring before I try to shut it down."
"Patricia Muldoon and I found a bomb on this deck of the ship. It's in one of the life support machine rooms. If it blows up, it'll cut off the life support to this part of the ship."
"Let me get a look at it," you say. On the way, you try to remember Professor Stucci's lectures on electronics. Williams leads you to a large room, where huge air ducts take air from one place to another. Muldoon is standing at one end of the room, near a much larger duct with a label on it. The label says: "Danger: Plasma Conduit. Do not open valve."
"The bomb is over here," Muldoon says. The bomb is planted right next to the valve. Then, you realize that there is another bomb in the room. It's farther down the length of the plasma conduit, next to another valve.
Do you try to defuse the bomb where Muldoon is?
Do you try to defuse the bomb farther away?
