"Why is it here?" you ask. You look down the hole, and see that there is a yellow box-shaped device sitting between two cylinder-shaped pipes.
"Those two pipes down there carry plasma from the Engine Room to the hyperdrives. The plasma is generated in the ship's fusion reactors, and then it's pumped to the hyperdrives with special force fields. If those plasma tubes were blown up, then it would make the plasma from the fusion reactors explode like a primative hydrogen bomb."
"So if this bomb explodes, then the entire ship could explode with it?" you ask.
"Yes."
"This is just more proof that the pirate Ian Moriarty Lothair is a few stars short of a galaxy," another Spacer says.
"There are three wires here," you say, "A red one, a yellow one, and a green one." You examine the bomb. You can see that there are three basic parts to the bomb. There is some kind of display on the front of the box-shape. It must be the timer, in case Lothair wanted the bombs to explode after he made a getaway in his ship. There is also a smaller box-shape welded onto the side of the bomb. You assume that the smaller box is the detonator. So the biggest part of the bomb, the yellow-box shaped part must be the actual explosive.
There is a flashing red light next to the timer display, and a small wire sticks out from the bomb. You take a closer look, and realize that the wire is actually a special antenna. That means that there must be a special radio that could warn Lothair if you mess with this bomb. If he finds out, then he might make this bomb blow up. That would kill you, and possibly everybody else on the Farragut.
You look at where the red wire leads. It looks like it goes from the timer to the detonator. The green wire looks like it runs from the radio to the timer. The yellow wire looks like it runs from the radio to the detonator.
"Does anybody have a screwdriver or something?"
"Here," a woman says. She hands you the tool.
You carefully open up the detonator. It looks like there are two parts to it. The red wire goes into the detonator, and only connects to the bottom part of the detonator. The yellow wire only connects to the top of the detonator. You can move the top part of the detonator off of the bottom part, but the bottom part is firmly attached to explosive part of the bomb. You decide not to open up the radio, because it might send a signal to Lothair.
"Okay, does anybody have something that can cut wire?"
A person hands you a pair of wire cutters.
Which wire do
you cut?
