A_CORWIN.HTM AMBER The one true world. All others, including our Earth, are merely Shadows...

The lead of the story, it is told from his viewpoint.  Son of Oberon and Faiella, prince of Amber.

He was interested in music when young, having composed a ballad which Random's wife likes.  He also befriended a young noble whose talent in music later surpassed him.

He founded a kingdom called Avalon, where the splendour and might is well known.  It was during this time he knew Ganelon, whom he made his general and later banished him to an little known Shadow world.

500 years from the present time of our Shadow Earth, Corwin and Eric had a duel, in which Corwin was defeated and left for dead on our world.  He survived the plague, losing his memory in the process.  However, he was aware of the fact that he is different and hid his strength and immortality from the others.  But during the 20th century of Earth's time, Corwin began to regain his memories and the story starts here.

Corwin has been changed by his years on our Shadow.  He learned compassion and mercy.  He learnt a sense of duty.  He has always believed himself to be ruthless and thus surprised himself but admitting that he defended Amber out of duty.

At the end of the series, Corwin lost much but was contented.  He passed the story as we know to his son Merlin.
