Son of Oberon and prince of Amber.

The strongest of Oberon's children, Gerard is rather slow of wit.  He was placed in charge of the navy during Eric's regency.

During Corwin's first assualt on Amber as recorded in [Nine princes in Amber], he witheld his fleet to let Corwin past.  Though this may suggest that he has no love for Eric, his nursing of Brand when he was stabbed hints strongly of his loyalty towards the family.

Despite his suspicions about Corwin, Gerald was prompt to guard the Great Pattern of Amber against Brand at Corwin's instruction.  He is open and decent.
