My Biography
by Rodney Kolstad

Hello and welcome!  I thought that some people out there may want to know a little about me, especially since I am recommending a series of books for the Sci-Fi fan to read.  I want you to know that the only Sci-Fi I really read is this series and a few others that deal more with the realm of old and not the far flung future.  Since I picked up my first book of this series Pilgrimage to Hell many long years ago, I have become quite a fan of the writer and the series, and thus I recommend you enter the year 2101.  First though, suffer a bit and find out who I am, my interests, hobbies and goals.

I am 42 years of age this year ( going on 55 ) and suffering from an incurable, chronic, incurable till you die, disease.  The disease for any who wish to look it up is referred to as Poli-Arteritis Nadosa complicated with Polymiolitis.  Having to do with the blood, nerves and vital organ parts, it is a painful, slow way to die.  It may take another ten years or as they have told me before ( 10 years ago ), you have one year to live.  They also said I would never walk again, fooled them.  Maybe it is because of this disease that I feel akin to Jack Adrian, Laurence James and Mildred Wyeth.  The first two being writers of the series who have also taken ill and the last being a character in the book who was cryogenically sealed to save her from an allergic reaction to medicine.  I too suffered that fate ( an allergic reaction to medicine) and that is what started this awful disease that will eventually kill me.  Enough Gruesome stuff, I also have a good side to my life and here it is.

I am married, have been since 1974, to a wonderful lady and we just celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary.  For you guys doing the math, I was married at seventeen as was my wife who happens to be exactly one week older than me.  My wife's name is Doris and she is a practising LPN ( licensed practical nurse ) and works in the hospital close to home.  It's great as she knows how to care and comfort me when I have flare ups find myself bedridden.  We also have four children, Leonard, my oldest boy is now 23 and works as an ElectronicsTechnician for Ikon Business Machines and is also a partner in a company we have called Kolstad Computer Sales ( look it up on the net some time ).  Our second son Jason now 21 is a baker for Tim Hortons Donuts, can you believe!  He really enjoys it though, and as I say, to each his own.  He is a collector of knives, swords and other weird weapons.  Our oldest daughter Deborah has just turned 18 and graduates in  June of this year.  She plans to find work in a hospital or other care facility.  Then we have our youngest daughter Sheryl just about to turn 14 and she attends school on the internet, imagine that, and does very well.  She as yet has no permanent plans but is leaning towards a lawyers degree ( I hope not ).  I also own two dogs, Willow, a miniature poodle and CoaCoa a miniature Dachshund.  We have a cat named hitcher, a hedgehog named Mian and a bowl full of fish.  Quite a lot for one house, but we like it.

Well, for those who got this far, Thank You.  The pages for the Death Land series are in tribute to Laurence James who has done so much and brought great times to my mind, helping me through many bouts with my illness.  I went to look on the internet for other pages praising this great man and his work, only to find almost nothing.  I found a great page from a fellow worshipper and long time fan of Laurence James and a few others but like me just getting going and probably like me always working on these pages.  My compliments to them and be sure to visit them through my links page.  Again I thank you for your interest and may you enjoy what I have done and go forth and find the books, read them and adventure with Ryan and his crew.  I hope my explanations, pictures, and intro's help you to begin this new adventure.
