The Cast of Characters :
 
Ryan Cawdor - Self proclaimed leader of the group of seven (as of book # 41).  Good with all weapons and hand to hand combat, he is one of the best (if not the best) fighters in all of Death Lands.  He stands six feet, two inches tall, has tightly curled black hair, a lean build, with broad shoulders narrowing down to a flat stomach and narrow hips.  His face is thin with high cheekbones and on the right side there is a scar running from the corner of his mouth to the corner of his eye.  The left eye is gone, lost to his brother in a fight where he also got the scar, he wears a black patch over the raw weeping wound.  He left riding the wags with the Trader in book one when he came across the first redoubt.

Krysty Wroth - Close to six feet tall, with red sentient wavy hair, she is Ryan's Lady companion, but one of the deadliest girls in Death Lands.  Looking at Krysty's hair it seems to have a mind of it's own.  When danger is near the hair tends to bunch up tightly against her scalp, giving the group a form of early warning.  Although Krysty is not a full Mutie she has the power to draw on Gaia, the power of mother earth.  When her green eyes flash and her hair bunches she becomes one of the most dangerous women in Death Lands.  She also has Doomie powers which sometimes let her see into the future and also give her tremendous sight and hearing.

J. B. Dix - J.B. Dix (John Barrymore) is known as the armourer for his vast store of memorized knowledge on all guns, knives, rifles, armament, vehicles and any thing to do with weapons.  Standing shorter than Ryan he is a lightly built man weighing not much more than one hundred and twenty pounds.  With a thin face and yellowish complexion he wears rimless glasses and wears an old styled fedora hat.  Never saying four words where three will do, he has been with Ryan the longest, having ridden the wags with the Trader and was Ryan's right hand man.

Doc - Doctor Theophilus Tanner is and enigma.  Born in the 1800's he was time trawled (operation Chrono's) into the year 2000 just prior to the world blowing up in the third world war.  He proved to be so troublesome to the scientists, trying to return to his wife and two children that they sent him forward in time 100 years two days before the world ended where he met up with Ryan, J.B. and the others.  Looking around seventy but closer to forty he has grizzled hair and always has greying stubble on his chin and cadaverous jaw.  He is tall and skinny and dressed in a turn of the century outfit of black riding boots, a stained frock coat and a stove pipe hat.  Looking more like an outdated picture of the 1800's he walks with a ebony cane with a silver head that holds a sword inside.  His mind scrambled  by the many jumps and the two time travels, he will ramble at times and become confused as to where and when he is.  A valuable member none the less for his knowledge in the redoubts and gateways helps when he remembers.

Jak Lauren - Jak was born in the Louisiana Bijou and was raised as a perfect fighting machine.  Standing only five feet, three inches, he is the deadliest hand to hand fighter in Death Lands.  An albino, Jak has pure white hair pale pink eyes and almost white skin.  His eyesight is as good as Krysty's  and he has the ability to feel trouble.  Jak joined the crew in Neutron Solstice and has been a valuable member of the seven ever since.  Raised by his dad to be the perfect killing machine Jak at fifteen is one of the youngest members of the crew but has probably out killed more people and muties than Ryan.  Wearing a vest filled with razor blade shards concealing seven taped throwing knives he is a deadly adversary.

DR. Mildred Wyeth - Mildred unlike Doc is a true doctor.  While Doc holds degrees in Philosophy, and other sciences, Mildred was attached to work in the redoubts in cryogenics (the freezing of bodies).  Two days before the world ended as we know it she under went surgery for a minor operation but when she had an allergic reaction to the anaesthetic she was frozen in the hopes they could save her.  Ryan and the band found her in Ice and Fire and her knowledge of pre skydark medicine has made her invaluable.  She was also an olympic silver medalist in target shooting and is easily the best shot in all of Death Lands.  Mildred is the daughter of a black minister who was killed by the Ku Klux clan and is slightly under six feet tall with beaded long black hair.  She is the only black person in the group and has formed a relationship with  J. B. that looks permanent.

Dean Cawdor -  Dean is the youngest member of the group and is the only known child of Ryan.  Dean was born to an outlaw biker chick named Sharona whom Ryan had an affair with while travelling with the trader.  In the book Seedling  Ryan finds out from and old woman he has a son and finds him a slave in the sewers of New York.  Dean was trained by his mother to survive in this world but being young he is very outspoken and careless, always getting into trouble because he forgets the basic rules.  Standing just taller than Jak he has his father's looks and bearing.  He has some schooling that ryan sent him for but most of his schooling has been in the cold hard facts of Death Lands.
