A Trip to White Mountain on September 26, 1998.

The images are taken with the AFGA ePhoto1280 Digital Camera at a resolution of 1280 X 960 during a trip to White Mountain. White Mountain is roughly 200 miles north of Boston, MA in New Hampshire. I went with Rich and his girl friend Taunya and left early Saturday morning around 9:30 am. We arrived there at 11 am. The picture on the left shows Rich pointing at a map of White Mountain at the information center.

There are so many attractions at White Mountain so see. We first visited "Old Man in the Mountain" shown on the right. Viewing this particular mountain at a certain angle shows a profile of an old man. Our next stop is up Cannon Mountain. There are two ways to go up; one is to walk up but that's not our first choice and second is to take a tram car held by cable. It takes about 7 minutes riding on the tram car. It's almost like taking a ski lift but on a larger scale. The image below was taking on our way up.

We hiked around on top of the mountain. The view from the top was incredible, able to see the entire mountain range. I think we were roughly 5000 miles above sea level. We were fortunately the weather was extremely warm for that day.

Our next stop was Polar Caves. I was quite disappointed with this place. It's basically a wild life exhibits with deers, different species of ducks, quails, and exotic birds. There were very few displays of rock formation and the main attraction was caves. There caves were extremely small. I expected huge cave where stalactite and stalagmite emerges from the ceiling and ground. There were none at all. These caves were formed by boulders piling on top of each other. Below are pictures taking at Polar Caves.

The picture on the left shows a natural marking of 2 "X"s on the rock formation. There's a picture of me on the right with the surronding environment.
