Beauty to Ashes
Starting a musical revolution:
Human Error: Lets start off by giving the readers of Human Error A little history about Beauty to Ashes. When you started, what's going on with the band, etc?

BTA:  Well, beauty to ashes first formed in January of 2000. Me and the guitarist Alex had been jamming and it was around January that we decided we wanted to pursue a project together. We both knew we wanted to do a spiritually driven and creative hardcore band. After playing quite a few shows, and a couple line up changes, we didn't finish the main line up until about 6 months ago. We've recorded two demos and we've appeared on numerous compilation albums nationally and internationally. We just recently added a new rhythm guitarist named Jason, who came to us from a metal\punk band. He's really brought a new edge into our style. Right now we're making plans to put out a full-length record and start promoting it. If plans change, we will still definitely have either an ep or a split ep out on SD records later this year.

Human Error: What inspired all of you to start a band, was there a specific reason or what is the story behind that?

BTA:  We're a spiritual band...our main inspiration is God... both Alex and I knew that we wanted to do something spirit filled. So we hooked up with some other Christian musicians who were into the same things. There's a lot of kids who think, "Oh man, Christian hardcore sucks...all they do is preach, preach, preach", we tend to get that reaction a lot at our shows before kids even see us live, then after they see us live, there's a lot of non-Christian kids who respect the dedication we have to our beliefs, and respect the fact that we're so open minded, and the way we don't pass judgment on others. So all
In all, things have been going great so far...if I would have to classify our sound, I'd say we're metal\punk influenced hardcore music. Kind of what would happen if Fat Wreck Chords mixed with Victory Records.

Human Error: If someone wanted to learn a more on who you guys are and what you are about, where would they go?

BTA:  Check us out on the web at http://www.beautytoashes.cjb.net/ or go to: www.sdrecords.com.
Human Error: If you don't mind, can you tell us a little about how you got hooked up with Salad Dressing records?

BTA:  Well, we basically sent nils our demo...he really dug it, so he asked us to become a part of the SD family. Nils is a great guy, who's been supporting us. We've made a lot of friendships through this Band, there are a lot of people who have been giving us unconditional love and support.  And God keeps on blessing us. So you better keep on the lookout for beauty to ashes in the near future.

Human Error: What kind of Gear do you guys use?

BTA:  Our lead guitarist uses a mesa boogie stack, our new rhythm guitarist uses a Marshall stack. Our bassist has an SWRset up, he bought the cabinet from a band called broken cedars. I use premiere xpk drums.

Human Error: Who would you say influences you guys on a musical level?

BTA:  The list could go on forever. But here's a few: gorilla biscuits, youth of today, refused, zao, strung out, smashing pumpkins, bowie, bane, the smiths, no use for a name, snapcase, h2o, hatebreed etc. the list goes on and on.

Human Error: Is there anything that you as a band would like to leave with the readers of this zine?

BTA:  Whether your Christian or not.... the best way to approach life is not to judge anyone...based on looks, beliefs, or anything. Racism or ignorance is no way to pass through life...and whatever you decide to do in life, whether it be professionally or spiritually, make sure you
