Part 5: - "Such A Hard Day"

He waits for Tania to get ready, and has the presents ready in his car. She arrives twenty minutes too late, and smiles at him.
- Hi, honey, have you been waiting long?
- Not longer than I'm used to,
he replies and smiles. - Come on, I have something for you in the car.
They walk down to his old Buick and he hands her the gifts. She smiles nicely and gives him a kiss before she asks him to drive her to the penthouse to get ready for the party. What she doesn't tell him yet is that she "has" to go by herself, because her image doesn't allow her to have a boyfriend. She is supposed to be the available, gorgeous babe in every man's fantasy. Being a model means that you have to be available to be attractive.

When she tells him he gets hurt.
- Do I make you less attractive?
- No, no, George it's just the way my manager wants it,
she tries to explain.
- Fine. Just go to your party and I'll go visit my friend next door!

He leaves in anger. He is angry and hurt because he is only a cabby and doesn't fit into her outrageous lifestyle. On his way home he picks up his cell-phone and calls Sarah. She is always there to either comfort him, cheer him up or just to listen to his nonsense. As he tries to reach her on her home number, he starts to think about the whole Tania case. Before he hinds to think too much, the tired voice of Sarah says "hello" to him in the other end of the phone.
- Did I wake you up? he asks and looks at his watch.
- Yes, you did! But it's all right. What is it now? she yawns.
- I'm sorry to call you at this late hour, but do you mind if I come over in about fifteen minutes?
- Sure, George. I'll put on some tea and we'll talk about your problems...

He realises that he is a lucky guy. He has a beautiful girlfriend and a caring friend. What more can a man ask for? He drives past his house first, and finds another envelope with a new card:

"Love is painful, that it true.
Not to love is painful too
But still, I think, the greatest pain
is to love and not be loved again"

Why would Tania write something like that? He puts it in his breast pocket with the other card, and heads towards Sarah's apartment. She opens the door with a huge grin and an exhausted look on her face.
- It's 2.30 am. This better be good... she mumbles.
- I'm so sorry that I woke you up, Sarah! But this problem needs a woman's opinion, and you're pretty much the only woman with a working brain that I know.
- I am the only woman you know here in New York except for... her
, she says and points at a fashion magazine on her table - the same as the one he has at home with Tania on the cover. He smiles at her and tells her about the little problem with his woman.
- She wasn't too happy about either the flowers or the perfume, and it just seemed as if she was looking for an excuse to get rid of me.
- Maybe she's not the right one for you after all, pal. I mean, maybe there is someone else out there that is meant for you?

Funny you should say that, he replies and gives her the two pink cards with the small poems. She looks at them, reads them and smiles.
- There you go; someone is obviously crazy about you.

For a long while everything around them disappears, it is just he and she. They sit in a small apartment with trains passing every 5th minute and talk about everything but relationships, women, men and love. They focus on childhood memories, school days, early working periods, favourite songs, great performers and concerts in the old days.
- Elton John! Definitely Elton John, he says and she nods confirming.
- And Stevie Wonder!
- Man, I can't believe I haven't noticed that we share the same opinions and listen to the same type of music! It's incredible!

And the chat goes on. After another 3 hours, and 2 cans of tea he decides to walk home. He gives her a fast kiss on her mouth, and is out t he door before she has a chance to recover. He kissed her, he kissed her, he KISSED her!!! Her chin falls down on the table she sits by, and all the sudden she is not at all tired anymore. A mixture of too much tea and a kiss that shouldn't even take place makes her so awake that it would be crazy to even suggest sleeping the 2 extra hours. She puts on an Elton John ballad, and starts to clean up the house at six o'clock in the morning. Never before has she had the same energy as she has now. She feels as if she can do anything. Except one thing, and that is to go to him and say something like, "George, we're good friends. But you see I just happen to love you. So drop the gorgeous model and be my man instead..." As IF she would even consider that.

- I'm a born loser, she mumbles to herself and lies down on her bed. - I need him here... she continues and falls asleep with the man she loves on her mind.

Meanwhile he drives to Tania's apartment just to see if she has returned - which she has, because he sees that the lights are on.

He parks the car and walks up the 10 floors to her flat just not to wake anyone too early. When he arrives, he knocks the door and she opens it wearing only a tiny towel. They don't say anything, just hold each other tight, and he lift s her up in his arms and carries her over to the bed. As they frolic in bed he notices that the roses are in the same place where she left them earlier that evening. He wants to say something, but gets interrupted by Tania's shaking and screaming and he knows that it won't be long before he won't be able to think straight for a while again. It happens the second after and he forgets about the whole thing...
