In addition to the activities below, Edmo and Houdini would be useful with a theme on the circus. Children could look at trained dogs and at clowns. Many household pets can do the odd trick too.

* Create some flashcards for the same vocab words. Create a "doghouse" from tables or chairs and use the flashcards to instruct children to position themselves in relation to the "doghouse"

* Have students instruct each other with the cards. I have found it helpful to copy symbols onto the back of each flashcards.
