Make-A-Story

Language

I love to use this section of the program for listening skills and for language opportunities.

* Create your own versions on large strips of cardboard. Have a variety of flashcards for each.

* Start a rhyme and see if students can find as many rhyming words as they can. Don't discount any, but after compiling the list, go trough them with the students and see which ones would make sense.

* Have several rhymes written on long strips of cardboard and have flashcards (several different words for each rhyme) ready to attatch to the ends.

* Create your own book of "Ridiculous Rhymes" by altering various rhymes, and illustrate.

* While reading the rhymes with my students, I find it useful to clap the beat and rhythm of the rhyme, and try each option out loud before selecting.
