Radio Daze

On the Air at WJER, the Voice and (only) Choice of Tuscarawas County!
My first job was working part-time at the local radio station. I was 16 at the time, and worked a long shift on Sunday morning and one evening a week. By my senior year, I was working full time, making a salary of $1 per hour. I envied my friends who worked as bag boys at the local grocery, making more than twice my wage.

I worked in radio for many years in my young adult life, winding up as a talk show host -- a sort of benevolent witch doctor in the world of the sick, the lonely, and the screwed-up. Drop in on

K8HLS (Happy Little Shrimp)
My first ham rig in Kenton, Ohio. I got my Novice license when I was in the 8th grade and worked two weeks in the summer de-tassling corn in order to make enough money to buy my transmitter, a Heathkit AT-1. The Hallicrafters receiver shown in the photo was on loan from a ham friend.

Here's more ham radio stuff, including an early photo of Bob Morris, K8HTT.

Today's Shack
In my present incarnation as KC0DZF, my ham shack consists of a corner of my study, and is barely visible just above my right arm in this photo. My rig consists of a Kenwood TS-440S transceiver. The antenna is a GAP Titan DX vertical. I have a fun time with the Amateur Radio UFO Net on 3.9777 MHz at 7 pm (Central time) Tuesdays and Saturdays.
