Nick woke up in a great mood the next day. He sang in the shower and kissed his mother good morning.
"Well, I take it that last night went better than you had planned," Jane said.
"It went terribly, Sharon is pretty much insane. But I'm crazy about her for some reason. And we're seeing each other again tonight!" Nick paused as his siblings, Leslie, BJ, Aaron, and Angel entered the kitchen. He didn't want to let them in on his private life; they'd never let him live it down. They sat and ate a nice leisurely breakfast together. After breakfast, Nick just couldn't stop thinking about Sharon. Their date was sometime that night, so he had some hours to kill. He decided to go to his room and plan how his date would go. Suddenly, the phone rang.
"Hello?" Nick answered.
"Hey Nick, what's up? It?s A.J. Are you about ready for rehearsal?"
"Rehearsal?! Why wasn't I told about this? You guys never tell me anything."
"Dude we announced it a million times at the last rehearsal. If you didn't have your head in the clouds all the time..."
"All right now enough of that, I'll be at the studio in about an hour."
They hung up and Nick made his way toward his car. It was about an hour drive to the studio in Orlando where the guys rehearsed. They had already released two albums in Europe but their popularity was not nearly as high in the U.S. Nick hoped that things would get better for them. On the way to his Durango, Nick snuck a peak to the house next door, and he saw Sharon sitting outside on the porch. She glanced at him and then turned her head the other way.
"Hmm, that's odd. Shit, what if now that she's sobered up she thinks I'm a fool???" Nick said to himself. He decided that since he had already made eye contact, he couldn't very well just drive off. With every bit of courage he could muster up, he walked up to her.
"Hey Sharon. H-how are you?" Nick really hated it when he stuttered.
"I feel like shit with this awful hangover. What the hell do you want?"
"I, uh, just wanted to know if we were still on for tonight." Nick eagerly waited for a reply. Sharon inwardly sighed. Who was this bumbling oaf in front of her? Yet oddly enough, she liked him. It wasn't her nature to be kind to anyone, so she held her ground.
"I may be busy, I don't know. I'll get back to you ok? Don't call me."
"Sure. See you...maybe. Bye!" Nick left feeling happy that she at least gave him a maybe. "Geez, I am making a fool out of myself for this girl. I can get any girl in Germany if I wanted to! But I want Sharon, even though she's pretty rude to me. If I just try to break down all those barriers she has up, maybe she'll appreciate me and let me into her life more." Nick thought to himself the entire way to Orlando.

"Nick goddamnit you've been screwing up the dance moves all afternoon! Is there a problem here? Even your singing is off key," Kevin snapped.
"Well that's nothing new," AJ muttered. The rest of the guys laughed. Kevin quickly shut them up.
"I just can't get this girl off my mind, I'm falling for her hard core. And we just met yesterday! I must be losing my mind. She's a total bitch, too. But she's great..." Nick said wistfully.
"You sure know how to pick'm. When can we meet this girl?" Brian, Nick's best friend asked.
"Yeah let's invite her out to a club sometime." Howie suggested. Meanwhile, Kevin waited impatiently for the idle chitchat to end.
"Well you see guys, I can't just invite her to hang out. She doesn't exactly like me." There was a long pause as the guys all silently agreed that Nick was a fool to get so caught up in such a girl.
"Hey its not what you all think, I mean I think she's starting to give a little. She said she may or may not hang out with me tonight!" Silence filled the room once again. Nick began to feel slightly uncomfortable.
"Come on, we have to get back to work practicing for this charity banquet" Kevin said.
"Man, are we ever gonna play real shows, maybe even tour?" Nick whined.
"Someday, Nick, someday. It'll be like Germany all over again."
***************Tampa Nick drove home pretty tired from practice, but he was also angsty. He practically ran into his mom when he got home.
"Mom, has anyone called for me?"
"Yes, actually, some girl."
"Some girl? Who?"
"I really forget the name. Sorry baby." Nick went upstairs to his room frustrated that his family never wrote messages down. Soon the phone rang. He jumped about a mile. He was about to grab the phone until he realized that he didn't want to seem anxious, so he waited a few rings. Finally he picked up. Luckily, no one in his house got to it first.
"Hello?"
"Don't ever let the phone ring that many times again. It's really annoying."
It was Sharon.
"Hi! Yeah sorry about that, I was just in the shower and..."
"Yeah so what're we doing tonight? I don't have anything in mind really."
"Well, I know this club that a few of my friends are going to tonight, maybe if you want to invite a friend or something we could all get together and..." Nick got cut off.
"Yeah sounds good, I'll be ready in about an hour. I'll come over." Sharon hung up, leaving Nick listening to a dial tone. He couldn't be happier. He began calling all of his friends to tell them to get ready.
