I stood there staring at AJ and I knew then what his answer was. With tears falling down my face I turned around and reached for the doorknob. I could not believe it, but it was slapping me in the face AJ was shirking his responsibility. Just then he came behind me and wrapped his arms around me. He stood there hugging me while singing "Having my baby what a lovely way to show how much you care". I couldn't help it the tears fell down my face and I began to cry noisily. I turned around in his arms and cried into his shoulder.
"How could you do that to me? Making me think you were going to tell me to go to hell, what's wrong with you?" I moaned.
"I guess it's the theater part of me that wanted to see a little bit of drama."
We walked back into the house together and into the living room. Everyone jumped up and faced us.
"What happened?" Hazel asked.
"We're going to have this baby," I said with a smile.
Hugs went all around as Jessica slapped AJ on the back in congratulations.
"Wait a minute, who's going to tell the rest of the guys?" Dominique asked.
"Tell us what," Brian said walking in with Howie, Kevin, and Nick.
AJ took my hand and faced the guys. "Kelly is pregnant," he said.
"What!" they all yelled.
"I'm pregnant," I repeated.
"Of all the dumb things AJ," Kevin groaned.
"You're telling me," Howie seconded.
"Just how pregnant are you?" Kevin asked suspiciously.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Bone, how do you know she didn't come here pregnant or that she isn't after your money?" Kevin asked.
All of the girls gasped at what he said. All I could do was gasp at what had been said. AJ was the first to act first. He walked over to Kevin and pushed him.
"You better watch it Train," he said quietly.
"Look calm down Bone, he's just looking out for you," Brian said stepping between them.
"Well get this straight Kelly is having my baby and I'm going to stand behind her," AJ said.
"Good," Shannah said.
"Come on Kelly let's go," AJ said. He waited while I got my stuff and he walked me out to my car. I threw my bag in the car and followed AJ back to his house. As soon as I put my bags back into our room I called California to tell my mom.
"Hi mom this is Kelly."
"Hi honey, how is Florida?"
"It's a lot of fun. Look mom something happened."
"What is it? There's not a hurricane coming is it?"
"No mom there isn't, its something else."
"What?"
"I got sick out here and I went to the doctor. He told me that I wasn't sick just pregnant."
"What!"
I knew AJ could hear her even though she was way across the room. I pulled the phone away from my ear as she let loose sentence after sentence of cuss words.
"How could you be so stupid?" she demanded.
"Mom, I was careful."
"Not careful enough," she yelled. "It's that AJ Mclean's isn't it?"
"Yes," I agreed.
"So is he going to help you or are you alone on this?"
"He's going to help mom."
"I cannot believe this, your father is going to have a heart attack."
"Mom," I pleaded.
"Kelly I don't need to say how disappointed in you I am."
"I know," I said.
I talked to her for about thirty minutes and then hung up the phone. I sat on the bed and put my head in my hands.
"When are you going to tell your parents?" I asked.
"I want you to meet my mom before I tell her. I don't want any misconceptions about you," he said.
I nodded my head and lay back on the bed. AJ walked over to me and sat down next to me. He lifted my shirt and rubbed my stomach. We lay like that for about thirty minutes. AJ just laying there rubbing my stomach and I watched.
"I'm going to take care of my baby," he said to me.
I nodded my head in agreement and then the phone rang. AJ sat up and answered it.
"Yes? Oh hi mom. No I was just laying here. Tomorrow? Sure and I'm going to bring my new girlfriend Kelly with me. No, she's different. This one is special," AJ said.
He hung up the phone and I smiled at him. "What a suck up," I laughed.
"What?"
"I heard you trying to get me in good with your mother."
"Well what I really need to do is get in good with you, huh?"
"Yes you should, Mr. Mclean," I laughed.
AJ took me in his arms and we resumed our previous activity. I fell asleep a few minutes later and so I didn't hear what AJ said to me. If so then I 'd known things would be all right.
"I'm going to take care of you and the baby and you know why? I love you Kelly," AJ whispered in my ear.
