The music was turned up as people began dancing. It had been 5 hours or so since we had arrived and during that time I didn?t leave the guys unless I was dragged away. Of course they didn?t stay together, they went off to chat with people from time to time, which left me with one or the other. I got along with them so well especially Nick who I knew I had grown a liking for. We were both sitting beside each other and I was having a debate with myself whether or not I should ask him to dance.
"Um... Nick, you wanna dance" I asked after finally gathering the courage. He looked at me.
"Er... I..."he began. I cut him short.
"It?s ok" I said. It was then Steve came up to me.
"Let?s dance Cortney" he said and held out his hand. I glanced at Nick and then took hold of Steve?s hand as he pulled me off the couch.
"You know when you told me you were going to seduce Nick Carter, I thought you were being sarcastic" he snickered.
"Ha ha funny" I shot back.
"If I couldn?t tell better you have a thing for him"
Steve answered. I didn?t answer and Steve lifted an eyebrow.
"Why didn?t you ask him to dance" he asked.
"I did... he... he didn?t want to" I muttered.
"What?" he cried not hearing what u had just said because of the music. I ignored him and began dancing, he shrugged and joined in. As we were dancing I could see Nick approaching me from the corner of my eye. Not long after there was a tap on my shoulder. I spun around expecting Nick to be standing there. No one. I turned back around to find Steve laughing. I shot him a look and began dancing again. Seconds later there was another tap on my shoulder and I didn?t even bother turning around. I looked at Steve who this time motioned his head telling me to look behind me. I hesitated then turned around to find Nick standing there.
"Um Cortney... would you like to dance" he asked. Steve heard and pushed me to Nick.
"Of course she would" he cried before running off to find Larissa. I forced a smile on my face as I looked up at him.
"You like this song" Nick asked.
"Mmm... it?s ok" I answered. There was a look of awkwardness on his face and I suddenly felt bad for him.
"So you still wanna get jiggy wit it?" I smirked. He cracked a smile and began dancing.
Not long after the music slowed down into a show R&B song which I recognised as Dru Hill?s ?These Are The Times?. I was about to speak when a girl?s voice cut me short.
"Nick... can I have this dance" she asked slowly pushing me aside. Nick looked at me and I gave him a small smile before I walked off to look for Steve who I found talking to Brian. I was walking up to them from behind when I heard my name in their conversation. Strucken with curiosity and wanting to hear more I hid near a wall which was right behind them.
"Nick was sitting there and was watching her dance" Brian said to Steve.
"Yeah when he came over and asked I didn?t let her answer, just pushed her to him" Steve said and laughed.
"It took abit to convince him to ask her" Brian then said.
"What?" I cried inside.
"Cortney... they you are girl" Someone suddenly yelled. I spun around along with the shocked faces of Steve and Brian to find Brandy grinning.
"Girl, why aren?t you dancing" she asked.
"I... um... I?m tired" I muttered.
"You tired? You?re one of the most energetic girls I know" she cried. I smiled.
"Go and enjoy yourself. I?ll talk to you later" she said, and walked into the other room. I turned around to find Steve and Brian looking at me in surprise. The smile on my face was now forced to stay as I pretended I didn?t hear anything.
"Hey" I said and sat down beside them. They glanced at each other.
"I thought you were dancing with Nick? Steve said.
"Yeah... I was" I answered. At that time AJ came up and pulled me to dance. I grinned and walked to the dance floor with him. He slipped his hands on my waist as I put mine on his shoulder and he began swaying. The way his body moved to the music caught my attention and slowly my body began to tune in with his.
"You like this song" he whispered into my ear. I tuned into the music.
"Yeah" I whispered back.
"From the heart" he answered.
"From the heart?" I repeated.
"The name of the song" he replied.
"Oh" I giggled as he grinned.
