"Sheryl could you send in my ten 'o clock? I'll be done in a minute, thanks," Caitlyn said into the phone and clicked to the other line. "Hello? Yes, Mr. Johnson. You can't sue me if you didn't win the case, it wasn't my fault. I'm going to say this once and only once, so listen," Caitlyn waved in her guests in to take a seat. "If you would have told me everything and not leave any details out, say, that you were at home at the correct time, we wouldn't have been able to place you there. Don't waste my time, it's too valuable to me. Good Bye," with that she hung up the phone and looked at the people sitting in front of her.
She shook her head, "Some people just don't know when to give up...Now, you are..." she trailed off looking down at the paper in front of her. She knew who they were, but figured if she played dumb they wouldn't catch on.
"The Backstreet Boys," she looked up to see the blonde one belonged to the voice.
"I need names. I don't think I can go around calling you all the Backstreet Boys," she smiled.
"Oh, well, I'm Nick, that's Kevin, AJ, Howie, and Brian," he said pointing to each one.
"Carter, Richardson, McLean, Dorough, and Littrell, I presume?"
"Oh, sorry, I should've been more specific."
She stood up, "No, you were right. Never give away more than what's asked for. I asked for names, I wasn't specific, I didn't say full names. Don't do that in court, it won't do you any good. For example," she paused, "Do you have a brother?"
He nodded, "Yeah, Aaron, he's twelve."
"See, don't do that. I didn't need to know his name and age. I only asked if you had a brother which would result in a yes or no answer. I'm telling you now, if you give away more information than what's asked for you could end up losing the case. Any question you're asked, answer on a need-to-know basis. If they ask you what you did last night. You tell them I went clubbing, they didn't 'need to know' you picked up a girl and took her home. Got it?"
He nodded.
"This is going to be a lot of work to get you guys ready for court," she shook her head.
"We've been in court before, you know," Brian said.
"Yes, that may be true, but I bet you didn't talk. Did you? I didn't think so, that's probably the only way you won."
"How do you know we won?"
She froze, "I don't...I...was just...making an assumption."
"You seemed pretty sure of your assumption."
She rolled her eyes, "What is this? An interrogation or something?"
"No, I was just saying."
"I'm the lawyer here, I'll be asking the questions, thank you," she said and sat behind her desk.

"Ok, now, Nick. Where did you get the name Backstreet Boys from?" Cait asked, for the millionth time that day.
"I remember, Lou said --"
"Oh sweet Jesus!" She said exasperatedly. "You know what? Forget it. You, Nickolas Gene Carter, will not be answering any questions. Don't say 'Lou said', never say it. I swear that's the twenty-billionth time you've answered that question wrong! Geez!" She buried her head in her hands.
"Well, sorry," he said, getting a bit mad at her picking on him.
"Sorry doesn't work in the court room."
Brian was getting a bit tired of her attitude, "We're not in the court room are we? Every thing you say has a 'in the court room' after it! Read my lips, we...are...not...in ...the..court...room!" He said slowly, leaning on her desk.
She looked at him a minute a bit taken back. "Excuse me?" she asked. "I know we are not in the court room, but when we get there do you really want him answering the questions? No! You guys have no experience with prosecutors whatsoever. I have to get you ready and handle this overly stupid case, that has no point to it at all! Actually I don't have to. I quit this case," she said. She stuffed the papers back in the file and dumped it in the garbage can.
"You can't do that we have a contract!" He yelled.
She smiled, "Correction, you have a contract. I don't. I didn't sign anything."
They all stared at her wide eyed. "We'll be back," Kevin smiled, pulling Brian into the hallway.
"Have you lost your fucking mind?" He asked, once they were outside.
"What a way to start a conversation," he mumbled.
"You just made her quit our case! She's the best lawyer and you made her quit! You are going to go right back in there and apologize. Beg on your knees if you have to. Do anything you have to get her back! We need her, Brian!"
"Kev, I don't --"
"Go!" He cut him off.
"I'm twenty-five and still getting bossed around by my cousin," he muttered going back in the room.
Kevin stayed in the door way, "Let's go. Brian," he looked towards him, "has something he wants to do. We'll be in the lobby"
Brian waited for them to clear out. He stuffed his hands in his pocket.
Cait looked up, "Is there something you want?" She asked. She laughed inwardly, she was enjoying this. She wanted to make as uncomfortable for him as possible.
He looked down and mumbled something, shifting his weight to his left foot.
She cupped her ear, "What was that? I didn't catch what you said."
"I apologize," he said a little louder.
"For what?"
He looked up at her, "For what? You know what."
"No, I don't. What? Are you sorry for getting fingerprints all over my desk?"
He sighed, "Fine, I'm sorry for yelling at you and making you quit our case. We really need you on it."
She nodded, "Don't you want to know if I accept it or not?"
"What?" She looked at him and he gave in, "Do you accept my apology?"
She acted like she was thinking about it, "Hmmmm...no."
"What?!"
"I said no. It was a pretty crappy apology if you ask me. I had to coax it out of you like you were three."
'I can't believe I'm doing this,' he thought, then got on his knees. "Please? Will you take our case again? I'm really sorry. If you don't, my cousin is going to kill me," he begged.
"As much as I like this, no. You have to do better than that," she half shrugged.
He sighed impatiently, "What do I have to do? Write you a ten page letter?"
"No, you don't have to do that. Although, dinner would be nice."
"Fine, then. If I invite you to dinner will you take the case again?"
"No."
He took a few breaths to calm himself down, "What?"
"I just thought it would be nice to be offered, that's all. But don't worry about it, I'll take the case again," she said and reached in the garbage to pull out the file.
"Thank you!" He exclaimed. "Are you sure about the dinner though?"
"Yeah," she nodded, "I was just kidding."
"All right then, thanks again. Bye," he said closing the door after him.
Cait sighed and started going through files in her desk when she heard a knock at the door, "Come in."
Brian peeked his head, "You sure?"
"Yeah, positively," she watched as he closed the door again. Then a few seconds later he knocked again.
"Positively, absolutely sure? I mean the offer still stands."
"I'm positively absolutely sure," she laughed and saw him close the door again only for him to knock a few seconds later.
"Sure?" He asked again.
She laughed, "Yes! Now go!"
"Ok, ok," he laughed, closing the door. She heard him knock again.
"Brian, I said go!" She laughed, writing something down.
"And who is Brian?"
Her snapped up and her smiled faded seeing the person in front of her.
