Jessie walked out onto to the beach as the fierce wind whipped her hair. She wrapped her arms around her body and tried to contain her warmth. The night was pale, dark clouds filled the sky promising a storm later. She didn't care all she wanted was to be alone and away from the world she once loved.
Finding a bare spot on the sand she sat down and cuddled her legs. She looked out to sea and sighed. She didn't know how she'd go back to where she lived, everything had fallen apart and nothing would ever be the same. She wished everything would be alright like before and everything that was said and had happen would be erased. Jessie shuddered at the thought.
In the distance she could hear the sound of a twig break under someone's foot. Turning around she peered into the darkness her eyes did their best to adjust. A dark figure was approaching her, her body was numb leaving her frozen like a stone. Not being able to move an inch she began fearing for her life... the life she wanted to terminate. The figure drew closer and closer. She could hear the crunching of sand against someone's shoes.
"Who's there?" she yelled surprised by the strength of her voice.
No reply. She felt the strangers cold shadow hover over her. Frightened she hid her head in between her legs and listened to the sound of the waves hit the beach and not the sound of the voice she was dreading to hear.
"It's still not over... the job destined for you has still not been completed" the voice cringed. Jessie ignored him, her body rocking to a tune her mind was hearing.
"Your ears won't listen but your mind will play the pictures" he said before disappearing into the distance. Jessie released her head from the warmth and the protective cover, her legs. She stood up with a jerk and eyed the water, tempted to join the sand below in the deep sea. The crackle of thunder awakened the sky and shattered her thoughts. She had no choice but to move off, move away from the place to which she would never return.
