Last week Republica won the COFA Award for Best Rock Act!!! The other nominees were: Texas, Garbage, Sheryl Crow and Alanis Morissette.

Rumour: The new single will be released in the US on March the 30th. --John--
The rumours that Republica have split up are NOT true! Toddy left the band at the end of last year due to other recording commitments (forever?). Pete Riley will feature on the new album as well as play in the live shows.
Saffron, Tim and Jonny all attended "The Brit" awards last week as they had been nominated for best video with "Drop Dead Gorgeous." Unfortunately the band were pipped at the post by new comers All Saints.
Saffron has been nominated for a COFA (Celebration Of Female Artists) award - winners will be announced at the end of March. --Official Republica Website--

11/20/97

Saffron appeared at MTV'S European Music Awards on Nov 6th presenting a price to Hanson for their song "MMMBop". Category: Best Song (??). --Juerg--

9/30/97:

Republica are working on a new album, that will hopefully be released early next year! But at first, they will bring out a new single at the end of this year.
Dave Barborossa left the band due to other commitments. Now they have a stand-in drummer, Pete Riley.
Jonny has officialy become a full time member of the band.
