HOME OF THE BLUES
Sounds from the Soul
The Blues is one of the moste influential music styles in the world. In all the modern styles is still a remnant of the blues. From Rock and Roll to even Metal, all guitarist and musicians still use elements of the blues. Many poeple use guitar licks they learned from Blues artists like Johnny Lee Hooker, B.B. King, & the legendary Robert Johnson.
History It all started around 1900 when black slaves sang the Blues to lift their spirits. Each country Blues artist made his own lyrics and usually accompanied themselves with the harmonica or guitar. Famous singers of this style are Blind Lemon Jefferson and Leadbelly. In 1912 the Blues became a popular music style. A few years later city Blues becomes popular. And in the fourties singers like T-Bone Walker had a lot of succes. And only a decade later poeple like B.B. King and John Lee Hooker became the most influential, using sustained tones and more volume with the electric guitar. Soon this became known as Rythm and Blues. And from there styles like Soul, R&B and rap originated.
