The rock world has been turned on its soft underbelly by the electrifying, somber sounds of 'Pain'.   Emerging from El Cajon State Mental Hospital, 'the' new hot bed of distrubed, urban expressionism, critics and musicians alike proclaim the beginning of a new 'Rock Revolution'.

"Driven to insane ends by the great amphibians of our collective pasts, a new rock had to evolve," remarked Darius Johannes, Pain's heavily medicated guitarist.  "When I turned MTV on after a fasting of 5 years, I witnessed the horrific sights and sounds of "The Backstreet Boys" and "Brittany Spears."  I knew where Rock was headed -- right for the arena rock of the late eighties.  Life doesn't de-evolve.  Hence, music can't.  We're continuing evolution.  It's as simple as that."

Amidst the band's brash confidence, listening to 'Pain' became a musical journey culminating in a new love for music.  "Save Me", the Award winning single, forces you to accept the cruel realities of our existences.  The listener realizes that our destiny is to suffer, not a 17th century dream about pursuiing happiness.  It is the great rarity that I am so humbled by such musical genius.

'Pain' can be seen on Late Night with TV3 on Thursday, January 21, 2000.
