Album review - Soulfly
|
Max Cavelera, the longtime vocalist and guitar player of Sepultura left the band and began a new project...Soulfly. The album was released April 20th of 98 and is dedicated to his son Dana Wells who was killed a couple years ago. The self-titled album is one of the heaviest albums to be released. Max has his BC Rich Warlock tuned down to a B in most of the songs which supplies a powerfully deep tone to the music.

Soulfly is an outstanding band and has added a new element to hard music with their debut album. Unfortunately, Max and the album has beed given heavy criticism for some of its lyrical content that is presumed to be directed in a derogatory fashion towards the members of Sepultura. But the interpretation of the lyrics is truly up to the listener and regardless the album is is an incredible work. The album features members of the Deftones (Chino Moreno), Limp Bizkit (Fred Durst), Dub War (Benji), Chico science and Fear Factory. This album has not yet left its place in my cd player. Its one of those albums that comes along where you enjoy every single song. A recommened buy from your musical expert here, Chest Rockwell. That's right, I know my stuff and this album is well worth it if you can handle music this abrasive.
