Biography Page - the biography of Queen and especially Freddie Mercury

Freddie Mercury (Farook Boulzara) was born in Zanzibar, Tanzania on 5 September. His father was a British diplomat. He was raised in a protected environment. His father was a rich man, they had a big house with several servants. When Freddie was 15 years old they went to south-London, not far from the airport Heathrow. Because of the accent he had and the foreign look he had he was an outsider. He played the piano for the first time when he was seven. He always had the ambition to become famous in the music business. Because Freddie had good marks at school he was allowed to go to the academy of arts. When he became to sing in several school bands he changed his last name in Mercury. In this period there were no things which would suggest that Freddie had exclusive qualities. He passed his exam in the end of the swinging sixties. At this time he met Brian May. The band Smile asked Freddie to sing by them. From that time they called the band Queen. Freddie Mercury (vocals), Brian May (guitar)), John deacon (bas guitar) and Roger Taylor (drums) had found each other. Queen had launched itself as a new Gram-Rock band, but it seemed to be that they could become more than that. Freddie always wanted to be other than others. When most of the rock-stars were wearing jackets Freddie wearied make-up. He never made a secret of that he was bisexual. Because of that Queen was interesting for many people; gays, girls, boys and teenagers.
The first singles didn't sell very good. The first hit Queen scored in England was "Seven seas of Rhye" , it reached the 10th place. This single was followed by "Killer Queen" (number 2) and "Now I'm Here" (number 10). Queen was still relative unknown until "Bohemian Rhapsody" (number 1, 1975). It was from the very strange album "A night at the opera". The successor was "Your mybest friend" , it reached the 7th place. After that the Queen fan group was growing and growing. To entertain this public the developed the stadion-rock phenomenon. This came to an height iFebruaryuari 1981, when Queen played in Brazil for many many people! In August 1984 Queen gave 8 concerts in Sun City, South-Africa which all were sold out. After that they played "Live Aid". This was a concert they held for starving people in Ethiopia. It was a great success. Queen had sold more than 100 million albums at this time. One of the greatest things of Queen was they always changed there style of music without losing their fans. The contrast between "Bohemian Rhapsody", "We are the champions", "Who wants to live forever" and the number 1 hit "Crazy little thing called love" proves Queen's originality. Freddie wrote this number while he was sitting in bath. Freddie has bad successful duets. Probably the most famous is "Under pressure" which he sang with David Bowie. Although he had it very busy with all this he always found some time to party. He liked it to do crazy things; he gave parties with stripteases and cocaine. Yes, Queen has had a very great time but in 1991 it came to an end. Freddie Mercury died because of aids. It was a shock to the world.
