Band History

It all started in 1998, the summer of stuff. I had just come home from Europe and was turned 16 in august. It was then that I got my Lincoln towncar. That baby was sweet. I was looking for stuff to do with my new ability to drive, so I went to Matt's house to do stuff. We ended up going to Ion Storm downtown to check out the company. It was really cool. Ever since then Matt and I hung out a lot.

Phase II was the Fall Concert. It was a concert in Fall at our school (you guys should have been able to figure that out). Matt and I played a few songs, I can't remember what, but it was cool [Matt: we played g-thang, loser by beck, and 2 blues songs]. Back then we referred to ourselves as "Put 'Em On the Glass." It was then that we invented "G-thang, in G."

Our next show was at the Cistercian coffeehouse. We played Bad to the Bone (matt on slide guitar - a first for Cistercian coffeehouse), and Chewbacca by Supernova. It was a huge success. [Chris: We totally rocked the house!] People were loving us, and the press would not leave us alone. I had to hire a serving boy to fetch my paper because the photographers would hound me as soon as I left the house. It was unlivable, so we had to go on hiatus. We had no more performances for almost a year [excluding some minor performances at the CPS volleyball tournement, and a party or two].

Our next performance was the next coffeehouse. By this time we were seriously good. No question about that. We also made ourselves in charge of auditions so that we didn't have to audition. We put together some songs the week of, and practices were great. We wrote the song "3 Pronged Attack" and were calling ourselves The Schlieffen Plan, for the first time. The only problem was that we had to stay up till 5 am the night before the actual coffeehouse getting everything organized. We felt horrible the next day, and were automatically angry just because we didn't get any sleep. We covered "Ruby Soho" by Rancid, and that was pretty good, but the rest wasn't so good. We thought it was horrible and were in a bad mood afterward. We didn't talk to anyone, and went straight to Denny's by ourselves, without helping to clean up. Later, when I talked to people about it, they all said we sounded great, and didn't notice any mistakes. It's understandable though that we are hyper critical of ourselves. After about 200 people all said we were great we started to believe them.

It was about that time that we had to think about senior projects. Matt and I brainstormed on side B on the chalkboard. We knew we wanted to do something together, and listed all the ideas we had. Then we weighed the pros and cons of each idea. We finally narrowed it down to 2 choices. Either make an album, or write a website. It was then that Matt had the great idea of doing a little of each.

So we decided to write a website promoting our band, record some music, and have it available for download on the website. Matt is a genius. So we started the stuff, and that's that. You should be able to get the rest of the story from the news section. Peace out, yo.
