Number Of The Beast

Possibly the most essential album for any fan of 80s Heavy Metal music to have in his or her collection. It introduced the vocal talents of of new singer Bruce Dickinson: with him on board, the band was now firmly bound for superstardom, and this album was the vehicle.

Packed full of sheer class, from the screaming Children Of The Damned, to the galloping Run To The Hills, to the synchopated rhythyms of The Prisoner, to the hypnotic title track, whose "tale" and title caused all sorts of consternation up and down the country's churches.

This track along, along with the art work of the album, caused the band to be branded with the "Satanic" monicker, a label which is, frankly, ridiculous. But, whatever, the publicity was welcome, as the band went from strength to strength.
