Golf Tournament Set Record

The Foundation's 13th Annual Golf Tournament held last June was a huge success!

Over 280 players participated in this year's event, which was held at the University Club of Kentucky. The tournament netted record $80,000 for the Sisters of the award-winning Appalachian Outreach Program. Golf Chairman Mike Marnhout was ecstatic. Mike said, "the tremendous support we received from players, sponsors, and volunteers was overwhelming. This has been the most successful tournament to date!"

Next year the tournament hopes to bring some new surprises. For starters, it has acquired a new name, the Brian Littrell/Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament. Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell has partnered with the Foundation to help this tournament grow and develop for years to come. Another change in this year's tournament is the benefactors of the funds raised. The proceeds will be divided between the new Master Facility Plan of SJHC and the Brian Littrell Healthy Heart Club for Kids.

This year's event maintained many traditions, such as the Golf Ball Drop, however, it also featured a few new ones including Footjoy golf shoes for all players, refreshing cold towels and champagne handed out after the round, a silent auction and live entertainment with dinner.

Next year's Brian Littrell/Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament will be held on June 30, 2003, at the University Club of Kentucky. For furtherer information regarding entry and/or sponsorship please contact Pat Campbell at 859.313.1705.

Healthy Heart Club Visits the Big Apple

On October 26, 2002, the Brian Littrell Healthy Heart Club for Kids packed its bags and headed to New York City. What was the occasion? Brian was having breakfast with 100 of his closet fans at ESPN Zone restaurant in the heart of Times Square.

In just over four hours, the "Breakfast with Brian" event profited almost $20,000 for the growth and expansion of the Brian Littrell Healthy Heart Club for Kids, a free program that offers healthy heart information and exercise to children ages 8-12. Participants of the event were treated to a question and answer session with Brian, a meet-and-greet, a fun-filled live auction with Brian as auctioneer, a variety of booths with Club information and merchandise, and a chance to play Brian one-on-one at one of the ESPN Zone's sports themed attractions.

The event culminated with a special video highlighting key moments throughout the Club's history. And just when everyone thought the event was over, Brian took the podium for one last time and sang a few bars of a ballad that brought many in the crowd to tears. Club Coordinator Brandon Edgington said, "Brian and his family truly enjoyed the trip to New York. It was great to see the support that so many of Brian's dedicated fans have for the Healthy Heart Club!"
