Rock
I have listened to rock since I was a kid.

I used to sing 'Enter Sandman' walking home from kindergarden. Back then, It was Metallica, Pantera, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and all the great bands. I've changed a lot since then. Now, it's TOOL, KoRn, Linkin Park, Kittie, Taproot... New wave.
And here are just a few of my thoughts on music...

                                                          MAINSTREAM

KoRn- Possibly one of my favorite bands, they were at the front lines of the rap-rock revolution. Jon, Munky, Fieldy, Head and David furthered the return of rock, a music that had been underground since the death of big-hair bands in the early nineties, but had begun a come back into the public eye with bands like  Soundgarden. Korn's first, self titled album features many personal songs for Jon, giving us a view into his scarred persona, like the haunting rythms of 'Faget'. Unlike some bands, Korn hasn't gotten weak with age... they're still helping kids cope in Issues, the latest album. Jon is all about going against the preconceptions the public has of him, and with his marriage to a porn star I thinks he's doing that reather well. I am sort of pissed though, almost every member of the band is/has been married. And they were all so cute!
Limp Bizkit- I'll begin by saying that I despise Fred Durst. The flabby, bleached front man of the Bizkit is as egotistical as they come. He has ragged on Scott Staff [Is THAT how you spell it?], Trent Reznor and been interested in ::shudder:: Christina Aguilera. And even though he supposedly 'Did it all for the nookie', then when is he gonna get some? Now, I'll try not to let my opinion of the beand be biased because of fa fred, but even looking past that, they are all SELL OUTS. You hear me? Sell outs! The first album, Three Dollar Bill Y'all, might not have sold a lot of records, but atleast it was real. The remake of 'Faith', Stinkfinger, Counterfit... that was some great stuff. But with the release of their second CD, I was disappointed. They went completely rap, forgetting their Rock roots. I still believe that only Wes Borland- the only REAL person left- continues to include a few hardcore rifts into the music.
Marilyn Manson- Manson (Aka- Brian Warner) makes good music. I have to admit that much. The beats are sweet, as the messages are sour. Smells like Children was a slap in the face of more than just a few people, containing songs like 'The Dope Show'. He continued on this one road track to success... until Mechanical Animals, when manson seemed to sway quite a bit from his original audience, perhaps losing some faithless supporters. True fans stake the claim that the 'soft' album was put out by Manson in an effort to scope out his true fans and if that was his intention, it worked. But, Marilyn has been spotted again, becoming completely mainstream if he wasn't already before. The release of Holywood was followed by coverage of Manson on Mtv, one of the leading promoters of 'POPular music'. The bands videos have been played on TRL alongside Briteny Spears, and as happy as he might be over his popularity, it must be a slap in the face to be catagorized with the very thing he fights against.

                                                        UNDERGROUND

Mudvayne-  This once deep underground band, isn't so underground anymore... Hailing from the same state as their friends, Slipknot, Kud and company burst onto the scene with 'Dig'. Personally, I think their music video is particularly interesting. It features the guys in full face-paint just doing their thing. I think that in a world where  people are all about looks and bodies that is like a slap to the face of the establishment. Their CD LD 50 is an example of haunting speed metal-type music. It goes from fast to slow, but all angry music all the time. My favorite guy is devil-boy. His face paint is possibly the tightest I've ever seen, and his facial expressions remind me of a demented clown. Hehehe.
Jack Off Jill- These women define GLAM goth. Steadily rising in popularity, Jack Off Jill has the same feminine malevolence as any girl who's ever been screwed over or angry at the world. I love the fact that angels' can f%$# and devils can kiss. hailing from Florida, the lead singer was once thrown into jail with well-knon/feared Marilyn Manson for disturbing the peace. Both of their on stage antics rubbed officials the wrong way. But hey! Don't the bad things band do on stage make concerts all the more FUN?
