Pete Rose
Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, Montreal Expos
Infield, Outfield, Manager

"Charlie Hustle" played 24 seasons in the Major Leagues and finished his career as the all-time leader in hits, breaking Ty Cobb's record in 1985 in Cincinnati. He won the National League Rookie of the Year award in 1963 with the Reds, played on two World Series championship teams in Cincinnati and another in Philadelphia. His contributions to the 1975 and 1976 Big Red Machine, which also featured current Cooperstown residents Joe Morgan, Johnny Bench, and Tony Perez, helped them to the title. Unfortunately, off-the-field problems with gambling forced Rose to accept a lifetime ban from baseball in 1989, and until he is reinstated, he is ineligible for the Hall of Fame.
