On-the-Brink Retired Players
These are players who have a borderline chance of making the Hall of Fame someday. Most were great players during their day, but were overshadowed by teammates, hurt by off-the-field problems, or shunned because of the position they played. Players are listed alphabetically. The years in parenthesis indicate the first year that player is eligible for the Hall of Fame. If there is no number, the player has already appeared on at least one ballot.
