TRICKS


Welcome to the Tricks section. In this section, there are collections of tricks, short-cuts to specials and combos, bugs in game...etc. The tricks are listed as of first player position.


Sega Saturn Codes:

'96 (Goentiz and Chizuru): At character select screen, hold START, + Y, + A, + X, + B.

'97 ('94 Kyo): Hold START while selecting Kyo.

'97 (Evil Iori): At character select screen, hold START, , A + X.

'97 (Evil Leona): At character select screen, hold START, , B + Y.

'97 (Orochi Team, Evil Leona required): At character select screen, hold START, , A + Y.

'97 (Orochi, the 5 secret characters required, only in practice mode): At practice mode at character select screen hold Y, Z, B, L and R.

Arcade Codes:

'97 (Evil Iori): At character select screen, hold START, , A + C.

'97 (Evil Leona): At character select screen, hold START, , B + D.

'97 (Orochi Team, Evil Leona required): At character select screen, hold START, , B + C.

'97 ('94 Kyo): Hold START while selecting Kyo.

'98 ('95 Kyo, RB2 Terry, RB2 Andy, RB2 Joe, '95 Ryo, '95 Robert, '95 Yuri, RB2 Mai, Earth Yashiro, Lightning Shermie, Flame Chris & RB2 Billy respectively): Highlight a character either Kyo, Terry, Andy, Joe, Ryo, Robert, Yuri, Mai, Yashiro, Shermie, Chris or Billy. Hold START while selecting character.



Shortcut specials:

Kim: + B/D.(In air also can)
Terry: + A/C.



Kim, Leona...:

While using these characters with 'storing' moves, use for storing instead of using or . Using to store can use or for two different moves, and also act as low guard.



Mai:

(In air, aim at opponent's lower body, opponent blocks) + C, + B/D.
Applied to Kof '96 versus computer player. The computer player usually block only the first attack, open to the special. Use this to trick human player at times. In '96, Mai's + D is very useful. It can be used to escape quickly by jumping back and if C is held, she will fly down as of (In air) + C.



Robert:

(In corner) + D, (Jump)D, B, + D, (Jump)D, B, + D...
Applied to Kof '96 and '97 versus computer. The computer player usually open to a low light kick after the (Jump)D. Or use Ryo's + A/C instead of B.(Opponent will usually stun when struck by this superior)



Ralf:

(store) + B, (opponent block) + D. The opponent will be either kicked or slammed by Ralf. Before the opponent stands up again, use this again. Use on Kof '96 only. Can also be used vs human player.



Anti-roller:

The opponent character will keep on rolling and rolling around you, waiting for opportunity to attack. The first way to break this was to use normal slam( + C/D) or use those with slamming moves(Clark, Shermie...). The second way, can be used with anybody, which is just + A/B, then link some combos. Never use + C/D, the chances of him getting it is slim, and the chances for him to attack are much greater.



Ground VSlash(Leona):

Normal VSlash is (In air) + A/C. With this trick, no need to jump also can execute the special move: + A/C. In '96, it's very difficult to hit opponent with this, but in '97 onwards, this can be used to hit opponent easily as Leona floats forward more than dropping down directly. Or it's best to use + A/C, because of Leona's + A/C move in '97 onwards. This way, there'll be a lesser chance of Leona executing the + A/C move. For Kim: + B/D.



Ralf:

Same theory with Leona's Ground VSlash, (ground) + A/C. This executes Ralf's (In air)QCF + A/C move on ground. Other characters such as Athena, Mai, Kensou...who has or in air move also can use.



Evil Leona:

Evil Leona vs any character, eg Iori. E.Leona throws her hairband boomerang + C, (Iori rolls forward)A + B, + B(hit E.Leona), E.Leona uses normal slam + C. E.Leona can slam Iori again and again till death. Only can use on arcade machine.



Iori:

Iori vs any character, eg Kyo. Kyo at corner, Iori in front of him. Kyo runs towards Iori, touching him, still running. Iori rolls behind Kyo and sets a slow purple ground fire( + A) on Kyo's trail(Kyo still running towards the other corner of the screen). Iori rushes forward and executes his non-superior special move( + C). Iori will hit Kyo with his special as normal, but he will be repelled away, frozen before he blasts Kyo with his last strike. As Kyo moves forward, he will be grabbed and blast by Iori, finishing his special move. This may be the only way, or otherwise, make sure that Iori's special move reaches Kyo before his slow purple ground fire does. Available on Saturn and Arcade.



Billy:

Billy vs Orochi. Orochi executes his 'sucking special'(that special which sucks or attracts opponent towards himself, when in reach Orochi will pull out the character's soul and crush it) Billy executes his flaming wheel special( + A/C). Orochi will attract Billy and his flaming wheel towards himself and something happens...(Arcade only)



Shingo:

(superior, opponent guards) + A/C, (opponent guard crush) + A/C, + A/C.(Total 2 hits, provided got enough specials)Or link with (In air)C, C before to make sure opponent is on ground.



Iori:

Rugal's electric ball at Iori.. Use + B to dodge the ball completely!! :)



Ralf, Yashiro, O.Yashiro...:

Consider their unblockable special moves.
Ralf: + B/D, (timing is crucial) + A/C(full store).
Yashiro: + A/C, (timing is crucial) + A/C(full store).
'98 O.Yashiro: (Grab distance) + A/C, (timing is crucial) + A/C(full store).
Remember, timing is crucial!!!



'97 Joe:

(Superior, opponent blocks) + A, (immediately) + A. Opponent will get a guard crush, together with some damage.. but 3 specials required.



Leona:

(Opponent at corner, blocks)(store) + B, (for storing) + C, + B, (for storing) + C, + B..
etc etc until opponent get a guard crush, or roll out. :)
