The Zone:
It doesen't matter whether you've just purchased Outlaws, or whether you've been playing since it came out, you've heard of the Zone.  This is probably the easiest way to get started playing Outlaws on the Net, and definately the best place to find a ton of Outlaws players.  However, you'll find that gameplay is slow and choppy compaired to an IP game.  This is due to the fact that Microsoft uses DirectPlay as opposed to Windows Sockets.  However, if this problem doesen't bother you, the Zone  is a great place to start because its quick and easy... Or is it?

Well the actual setup is the most difficult part.  Somehow, the Zone is designed in a way which seems to make the simplest task extremely frustrating and difficult.  However, this frustration can be overcome by using Microsoft's Internet Explorer for the setup process.  Once you have gone to www.zone.com, signup is simple. Follow the links on the page, and you will be prompted to enter a username, password etc.  Luckily, everything to do with the Zone is free of charge.  The Zone will automatically download a number of files to your computer.  Be patient while its downloading, and be sure not to cancel unless absolutely necessary.  Once setup, its necessary to download a bunch of files from the LucasArts Web Site.  The files aren't too big, and can be downloaded here:

Once you have these files, you can return to the Zone and play Outlaws!
 
 
mIRC:
Ah yes, my favourite place to play Outlaws.  IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is a great chat program which is used (in the Outlaws case) to set up IP games.  These games are much smoother and nicer than the Zone games, and are garanteed to be easier to play.  The easiest way to start is to go to SIR_Kohna's site.  This site offers programs and help on getting hooked up with Lindow's Outnet, a small program designed to make join IP games via IRC quick and easy.  First step:
  That's it! You'll be in the presence of fellow Outlaws players, and you'll be able to find all kinds of mIRC and Outlaws help from great people such as SIR_Kohna and Garbo! You just mind find me kicking around too! (I won't help ya though cause I'm a jerk hehe)
