Obtaining Parental Consent: Under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, which went into effect on April, 21, 2000, FMGS.net will require parental consent in order to keep in our records any registered user information from a child 12 or under. After April 21st, when a child 12 or under registers with us, we will ask for a parent's e-mail address and then write to that e-mail address requesting parental consent. A parent has 21 days to respond with consent. Parents must follow a hotlink from the e-mail letter where they can give consent or delete their child’s registration information. Once we receive parental consent, we will follow-up with a confirmatory e-mail. If we do not hear back within 21 days, that child’s registration information is deleted from our system. Parents are invited to review and delete their child’s personal information at any time and refuse to permit further collection. All they have to do is visit our registration area from the same browser and machine on which their child registered. There they can review their child’s information and, if they choose to delete that information, simply click “delete” next to the child’s name. What Information We Collect Via Registration. FMGS.net uses its best efforts to respect the privacy of its on-line visitors. All registration information is collected directly on a voluntary basis and also passively, through Cookies (see below). We ask registered users to tell us how they found out about FMGS.net. We do not ask registered users for a real name or postal address. Instead they are invited to create a fictitious nickname and provide their date of birth, e-mail address, gender, zip code, and country. </div> <bR> <div> 3. How We Use the Registration Information.  FMGS.net uses information from registered users to notify contest winners and to post nicknames next to game high scores and other kid-driven creative material in our website (such as bulletin boards). Note these nicknames are not personal information or e-mail addresses. No one can contact kids on-line or off-line based on these nicknames and all material for bulletin boards is prescreened by our editorial staff. We also use registered user information to obtain a better understanding of our user profile and thus tailor our activities to meet the age and gender make-up of our visitors. This information also helps us study user patterns across the country. We make available our overall number of registered users in publicity documents.</div> <bR> <div> 4. Privacy. Under no circumstances do we share, rent or sell information about our registered users to any outside third party. Changing Registration Information. Registered users are welcome to view, change or delete their registration information at any time. Simply go to the registration page of FMGS.net using the same computer from which you initially registered. We use a software technology called "cookies" to collect non-personal information about our visitors. Such information includes: type of browser software a visitor uses to access the Internet (i.e. Internet Explorer 4.0 or Netscape 3.0, etc.); type of operating system (i.e. Windows 95, Macintosh, etc.); or the domain name of the visitor's Internet service provider. We also count the number of visitors who come to our site each day in an aggregate form. Such information allows us to better assess which attractions are meeting our audience in all of the above practices. We also use "cookie" technology to track and provide visitor scores on designated contests and multi-player games. Again, solely FMGS.net collects this personally identifiable information for internal purposes only. Finally, cookie technology frees visitors to enter FMGS.net without having to remember and enter any special passwords.
