Chris Sano is the ultimate winner of the East vs. West Pokémon Stadium Exhibition Tournament
On March 5, Pokémon 2000 Stadium Tour attendees who visited the Woodbridge Center and Westminster Mall witnessed one of the greatest Pokémon battles ever.
To celebrate the release of Pokémon Stadium, Nintendo hosted a one-time-only Exhibition Tournament to determine which coast had the right to boast. At each location, 32 Pokémon Trainers put their skills to the test. Eventually, many Trainers were eliminated and each coast was left with only one competitor standing.

West Coast Champion Travis Butters uses Starmie to take on Chris Sano's Mew |
The west coast was represented by Travis Butters (age 16), while Chris Sano (age 14) was the east coast representative. The two were linked up via satellite for a heated 3D battle, and when the dust settled it was Chris Sano who took home the trophy.
For his efforts, Chris took home an awesome Pokémon prize package which included:
- Pokémon Hat
- Pokémon T-Shirt
- Pokémon Watch
- Pokémon: The First Movie home video
- Pokémon Stadium Bundle Pak
Travis, who earned bragging rights as West Coast Champion, took home a new Funtastic N64 and a Pokémon Stadium Game Pak.
Congratulations are in order for Chris, Travis and every other Pokémon Trainer who had enough courage to compete in the East vs. West Pokémon Stadium Exhibition Tournament!
