Web Project Assistant, London Borough of Havering
7th October 2002 - 31st May 2003
I undertook an eight month work placement as part of my degree. The job centred around assisting the Web Project Manager with the various tasks of maintaining and developing the council's website and Intranet, as well as becoming involved in other multimedia projects such as information kiosks, Smart cards and WebTV. It required a lot of initiative as many times I would be left to set and implement my own projects; envisioning ways to improve the website and conversing with relevant individuals and departments for their ideas and feedback.
Some of my achievements during this period are as follows:
Work in Greece
Summers 2001, 2002, 2003
I travelled independently to the Greek islands of Naxos and Kos where I found
part-time work in customer-facing environments. The benefits of this experience
included:
Other Employment
Permanent Part-time Staff at Securicor
March 2000 - September 2000
Temp at Harris Lord Recruitment, resident at Securicor
May 1999 - March 2000
Work Experience for Sugar magazine In London (a teenage magazine
for girls)
May 1997
My primary interest is also the focus of my studies, namely computers and the building of websites. In addition, I am very fond of playing the keyboard and composing music, both of which I have enjoyed since the age of nine. By combining the two interests, I have started to experiment with computer music and I am excited by the possibility of greater implementation of music into websites.
Another great passion of mine is travelling and meeting new people from around
the globe, and for this reason, comprehension of foreign languages has become
very important to me, and for the past two years I have been teaching myself
Greek. As with my musical pursuits, this takes a certain amount of perseverance,
dedication and self discipline. I have a basic knowledge of French too, which
I am hoping to upgrade in the near future.
