INNERSPHERE LIGHT MECHS (35 - 40 TONS)
BACKGROUND
FIREFLY(30 ton) : Like the Annihilator, the Firefly is almost never found outside the Wolf's Dragoons. The Dragoons use it as a scout mech utilising it's fair speed and jump capability to discover enemies and provide targetting information for artillery. As a recon design, the firefly carries few weapons, though it has enough to protect itself if discovered performing it's mission. To increase it's survival rate, designers gave it the most armour a mech of it's size could carry, something that has saved more than one Firefly. (Excert taken from MW3 Technical Reference).
OK, so how do you survive in it? Well assuming we have a firefly for the planet we're reconning it it is a n excelent mech for hunting down that powered down mech. It's maximum speed being only 86KPH makes it not as fast as an Owens, however it does have jump ability which is useful for getting around large objects quickly and thus in theory shortening the time it would take to find your target.
It also lacks a BAP, which in my opinion does put it at a disadvantage on the detection front as it means that it isn't as covert as an owens but it does carry AMS which means should an enemy target you at range in combination with it's armour you have some defense until you can turn and run.
on the manuverability aspect it contains no torso twist, but then again neither does the owens so the best sort of piolt to use in a fireflyy is one with good accuracy and keen piloting skiils to make that quick turn*
Overall i would reccommend this mech be used IF no owens is available or you know that their will be heavier opposition as the increased armour will allow it to last longer.

BACKGROUND
OWENS (35 ton): With the development of OminMech technology in the innersphere, the Draconis Combine began updateing old designs. The aging Jenner, the Combine's perpetual scout mech, was upgraded and refitted resulting in the Owens. Developers filled the new design with upgraded technology for scouting and improoved upon the old Jenners already impressive speed. This makes the OminMech a formidable recon unit, but leaves little space for weaponry; on it's own, the Owens lacks combat effectiveness.(Excert taken from MW3 Technical Reference).
The last sentence in that i definately aggree with, what ever you do NEVER take this mech in on it's own as it's suicidal. however if taken in with good long long range support, this mech is THE mech to use as while the owens pilot is scouting the rest of the team can cover it while staying reletivly safe.
It is one of the fastest mechs available as well without a MASC. An impressive 130KPH can be achieved in this little thing amd in combination with it's BAP means that it can avoid detection if handled properly. Unfortunately it has no jets which means you have to circumvent every obstical you come across which can slow you down when your hunting a target in recon especially on maps like the Villa and the lake bed. Plus with only limited weapory it is also a good idea not to stray from your support.
As with the Firefly it has no torso twist so it means a well trained pilot should be handling this mech even if they have no combat skill an effect pilot should be able to avoid getting melted until the recon data is safely retrieved.*
It also has little armour on it. two well placed salvo's from an LRM will drop it like a brick so it's a good idea to not stick around in one spot for too long. keep your speed high and you course erratic to throw off your opponants target lock. this thing is fast enough to avoid most weapons but it's missles you have to whatch for as there is no AMS on board.

BACKGROUND
STRIDER(40 ton): Drawing primarily on the ageing Cicada design, this new OmniMech is solid if uninspired. Utilising a bulky and heavy standard engine keeps the costs down, but gave the designers few options. They chose to generalise, giving the strider adequate armour protection, a decent speed for a medium Mech and a small array of weaponry. By trying to do too many things, itstretches itself too thin: the Strider is truly a jack-of-all-trades, but a master of none. (Excert taken from MW3 Technical Reference).
This mech is a bit like rolling both the Firefly and the Owens into one mech but not quite having the space to get everything in.Officially it is a medium class mech however it's only it's tonnage that gives it that class as it behaves more light a lighter mech. It's speed range is above the Firefly's yet below the Owens. it has some of the Owens scouting euipment including a BAP and an ARTEMIS for fast target locking. It can torso twist (useful for scouting and close range combat)
HOWEVER, it doesn't have any jets and it only has very short range weaponry which means if an opponant has you ranged from a distance, your toast!!!
this mech is good for those who don't specialise in recon but have to for the mission as it utilises the manouverability of some of the more powerful mechs and yet contains more scouting potential than them.

CLAN MECHS (35 - 40 TONS)
BACKGROUND
PUMA(35 Ton): With exceptional ferocity for a light mech, this design was code-named Puma when first encounted in the Inner Sphere. Though fast enough for scouting missions, the Puma can stand up to many Inner Sphere medium class mechs. It has exceptional fire power for a light mech, surprising many Mechwarriors in the Inner Sphere the first time they face the design. (Excert taken from MW3 Technical Reference).
This mech is a little bastard when, used correctly. Many Mech Warriors out their customise it to become what has been classed as a flameboat. it's small, extremely fast and very well defended by that cowel covering most of the mechs innards.
It's fire power is formidable, i have see one of these take down a 100 ton Daishi single handed (mind you the puma limped away from it).
As with all light mechs it has no torso twist limiting it's manuverability but an experienced pilot knows how to circumvent this*
It has little equipment inside the stock design however it does contain 2 PPC's and at least 1 flamer, which used in conjuction with the on board targeting computer makes this a potentially leathal opponant (especially in large numbers)
it is vunerable to long range missle attacks and has a tendancy to overheat alot. Overall i admire this mech and love to pilot it, however i hate fighting against it.
