Prolouge: The Beginning of the Darkness

The orgin of the new types was not quite known, many had different theories,
some said they came from underneath the Earth, others say they came from Heaven and Hell themselves.
In the end, it wasn't important where they came from, but rather the effects of their coming.
The effects were violent, the usually peaceful world had errupted into a warzone, spliting cities,
the Darkness pokemon corrupting those who wanted to succumb to them, the Light pokemon were the
barrier keeping the Earth from total chaos, the one voice of sanity in a world of chaos. The
final battle would happen, but first someone has to unite all the Light pokemon, and another
must unite all the Dark pokemon, two people, two souls, one possesed by the Darkness, the other
guided by the Light.
They said that there was no such thing as an evil pokemon, they were wrong.

Chapter 1: A Question of Vengenace

Time: 5 years after Ash Ketchum succeeded in the Pokemon league.
Place: Pallet City.

The TV was broadcasting the local news, sports, weather, the usual happenings,
however one report caught 16-year old Ash Ketchum's eye, he turned the volume higher as the news
reporter told the story,
"Last night, Pewter City was under a massive riot, sources say that this was yet another gang
war between the Light and Dark trainers. 5 people were killed, 10 were injured, 3 of the people
were in critical condition. For the safety of the injured, they have been transported to
Cerulean City for medical attention. Now back to you Tom..."
Ash turned off the TV, he was worried of what could've happened...Brock, his
old friend from those long 5 years ago, could have been one of those victims. He wish he could
go out on his bike and get to Cerulean, but it was dark out...and Darkness pokemon are well known
for their "show no mercy" approach to people who are Light trainers. Ash took out the phone book,
he looked up Cerulean City hosipital in the listing. Ash picked up the phone and dailed up the
hosipital....after a small wait, a receptionist showed up on the video screen.
"Hello? How may I help you?" The receptionist looked professional enough, she had a white coat on
and wore a rather large pair of glasses.
"Can you help me locate a patient?"
"Yes, which patient do you wish to be sent to?"
"Brock, Brock Shale"
"One moment please" The woman pressed an out of view button and the screen was blank for a while,
until a rather familiar face came up, it was Brock, he had a number of bruises on him, and was
bleeding slightly in some places.
"Hey Ash, long time, no see." Brock's voice was weaker than usual. He was laying in a typical
hosipital bed.
"Yeah, I know, I just saw the news, I was worried you were one of the dead..."
"Don't worry, it takes more than an ambush by some Dark trainers to take me out."
"They've been becoming total menaces...Team Rocket isn't as bad as these trainers!"
"Yeah, I better let you get some rest...when do you think you'll be out?"
"Tommorow night maybe at the latest..I wasn't hurt very badly, no broken limbs or anything like
that. Since I'm in Cerulean City, maybe I can get Misty and the three of us can meet tommorow,
sound fair?"
"Yeah, sounds great."
"Well, like you said, I need my rest. Good night."
"Good Night." Ash hung up the phone.
The Screen went blank shortly after. Ash turned off the lights and went to sleep.

Professor Oak's lab was pitch black except for a dim light in which the ageing
man was writing in his journal about the new discoveries he's made about the Light and Dark
Pokemon. The Proffesor may have been old, but his hearing was still good, he heard footsteps
come from behind him...
"Go away now, come back in the morning, I'm busy now." Oak said shooing away the stranger.
The footsteps came closer and closer, louder and louder, then there was a small click...followed
by a gunshot.
"Please...come ba...Argh..." The old man did a small grunt as he felt the bullet.
He stood grasping his wound, Oak fell to the floor, he was still clinging to his journal,
"Bastard, the light will always prevail..." Oak managed to say these words and was answered by
a struggle for Oak's journal.
"Shut up, old man" the attacker spat out at his victim. Those were the last words Oak heard
before he closed his eyes.
The shooter tried taking the journal, but the Professor grip was strong. The murderer tore out a
few pages and left.
"Damn, I hope this can help me."
As the unknown killer left, Oak moaned slightly before he got up, he cleaned the blood off and
was glad that the bullet was only an arm wound.

"Hey Ash, we're here!" Ash opened his eyes to be greeted by Brock and Misty..he hadn't seen
them in about 3 years now.
"Hey, you could've waited..."
"Yeah, but.." Brock said nervously.
"But what?"
"We may not be here much l.." Misty was inturrupted when she screamed in pain...Ash saw beyond
her fallen body to see a sort of being...it was a large, dark figure, looming ahead...it was
surrounded by dark energy. Brock looked at Misty's injuries...they didn't look good.
"Don't worry about me...it was nice to see.." Misty's body went limp before she could finish.
Ash looked at the figure, he was about to call Pikachu when he saw her, a small child-
like being, she did a strange song, she appeared to be a pokemon. She sung a sweet song as energy
that was so bright it blinded Ash's eyes was surrounding the child/pokemon, the energy was
launched toward the dark figure. As the figure launched its dark energy at the child, Ash and
Brock were slammed against the wall. Ash got a last glimpse of the dark energy being launched
at him, the feeling of pain was unimaginable...

Ash woke up in a cold sweat and heard the screams of people. He saw a banner with
a red triangle inside a black circle being waved around...
"Dark trainers! Not again!" Ash noticed the symbol which was world-reknown for bringing pain
and suffering, Brock was just the victim of such an attack, but he survived with minor injuries,
he's seen those who have been killed under these violent attacks.
Ash quickly put on his clothes and took his pokemon. He raced out the door, and
was careful to hide. He saw the so-called trainers take flame-throwers and burn houses down,
most were lucky enough to escape, others were not. The Dark ones were using their large fierce
pokemon to scare and chase people. The attackers used a dark pokemon of some sort to do a very
graphic act to an innocent man. It was a pure hell, Ash was wading his way through the
destruction and chaos. He saw Professor Oak, he was running towards the exit, but some trainers
had guns trained on him. Ash took out a Pidgeot,
"Pidgeot, Sand attack!"
The bird flapped up some sand and it blinded the trainers well enough for Ash to
take Oak to safety. Ash then decided to do a direct approach, he kicked one of the trainers where
it hurts and punched another out, the others got the message and ran off.
"You okay?" Ash went back to his long-time friend and mentor.
"Yes, they didn't do much to me." Oak replied happily.
Ash saw the destruction that was caused in so short a time. Oak's lab was on
fire, with no hope of salvation. Ash noticed a book the Professor was holding, but decided not
to pay attention to it.
"Come on...this city is gone....no hope for us staying here."
"Yes." Oak sighed unhappily. "This is a grim day for us all, I was expecting it though."
"Huh?"
"Never mind. Come on..we better go before they come back."

Ash had discovered Misty and Brock in the way to the way out of the living hell
called Pallet City. He greeted them quickly, and noticed that they hadn't changed all that much,
Brock was the same, only taller. Misty was more different, her clothing wasn't as revealing
anymore (Ash blushed slightly at noticing this), her ponytail at the side of her head was longer,
but not much else. They had to continue running, the city was literatelly falling apart and
crumbling to the ground.

Ash and Oak stared at the forsaken city, as it burned to the ground, they stood by
it till the fire had ended. The others didn't dare try to move them. Ash felt feelings of sorrow
and rage battle inside of him, there were other survivors out there too...but his mother wasn't
one of them. He had only one photograph of them in his backpack, his only rememberance as to who
his mother was. He did a silent vow for revenge on all the Dark trainers that ever have existed
or will exist.
Ash put his head down and turned his back.
"Don't worry, I will avenge you, mom. You will have not died in vain." Ash said it once softly,
and one more time louder this time.
He would make sure his vow was fufilled.
