Breeding Game In the beginning.... Digimon was the second keychain virtual pet made by Bandai, the original creators of the first virtual pet, Tamagotchi, that started a worldwide craze in keeping virtual pets. Digimon first appeared in Japan in August 1997. Like many pets, Digimon was initially made for sale in Japan and was later revised and packaged for sale in the U.S. in early 1998. Similar in concept to Tamagotchi, players have to take care of their little virtual pets known as Digimon. Assuming all goes well, the Digimon will go through 4-5 stages of growth (roughly 15-20 days) before it dies. The type of Digimon the player will obtain depends on the quality of care that it was given. Digimon also had an additional feature in that players are able to link their pets up with each other and fight. Needless to say, it is obviously much more "boy" oriented than the earlier pets. This feature made it stand out from the countless virtual pets that appeared following the success of Tamagotchi. Digimon was originally called by several other names including: Digital Demon, Digi Demon, Digital Monster, and Tama-Hawk. Note: This game is already out of production. ScreenShots
