Chapter
I
Traveling along a path
the companions come upon Two Dwarfs sitting, starring at a burial mound.
The dwarfs claim that their brother is buried there. Lain low in a battle
with an evil giant who stole a pouch of Gold from them. The companions
asked if they could help the dwarfs recover their belongings from the giant
and the dwarfs gratefully accepted, so everyone mounted up and went in
search of the giant.
Several hours later
the adventures find the giant's dwelling. After removing a boulder from
the entrance way the companions go inside and discover the giant is not
home. They find a stairwell in the rear of the cave and go down the stairs
to find the giants living quarters. In this room the party finds the Dwarfs
"stolen" gold and give it to one of the dwarfs who immediately sprints
from the room. The companions finding nothing else of interest and go back
outside to find the giant returning.
The adventurers attack
the giant, Sir Rich striking a blow, then Adage , then the Giant
swings and misses. Then Gannon turns the giant into a Goblin and Adage
in turn severs the Giant(Goblins) spinal cord. And before anyone could
blink the remaining dwarf ran over and crushed the Giant(Goblins) skull.
The dwarf departs and
the party decides to remain in the giants domain. While everyone else is
getting their things together or disposing of the Giants body, Darit went
out hunting. And while out hunting he came across a half-giant dressed
as if he were a noble or a very rich merchant, named Grub and decided he
was not a danger to us and decided to invite him to come and share
the parties lodgings. The party soon discovers that Grub is on his way
to Orm as well. So the party stays the night in the cave without
incident.
In the morning the
party continues on till mid-afternoon without incident, until the they
came to a wide, deep revine that was spanned by an old, dilapidated,
swinging, rope bridge that was covered with ice and snow. So Sir
Rich being the brave soul he is, decided that he would lead the way. As
soon as he made it everyone else decided they could as well which they
did, until Adage - who was the last- got about halfway across the bridge
when it started to give way, he immediately jumped on his horse and
made a mad dash toward the other side, just making it to the other side
as the bridge fell into the ravine.
At this point Gannon
decided that traveling by "foot" was getting to be a bit dangerous, so
being the powerful mage that he is he conjured an air boat - at which
everyone in the party wondered , with annoyance, why he didn't do that
to begin with- to take them the rest of the way Orm.
