Character Creation

Ok, now that you know the basic rules, its time to get a character. You will obviously be asked what race you want to be when you sign-up, but you must first know who and what you really want to be. To help you out, we have set up more pages with information about each of the 5 races here on Aria:

Dragons
Dwarfs
Elves
Humans
Minotaurs

Once you have chosen a race, it's now time to think about your character. His personality, History and Background, Physical Features, and Name. Obviously, choosing the name and physical features is the easy part, so think about that, and write it down. even draw it if you want. This will help you decide on your character most easily.

Now, with name and physical features done, its time to think about your history and personality. its pretty obvious that both effect each other, so we strongly recommend getting your history or background done first.

To help you, here is a basic outline which you should follow:

Figure Out Your Characters....

Early History: Childhood, Family, etc.

- Exactly where and when was your character born? Under what circumstances? Was he ever wanted? Was he adopted?

-Who Raised him/her? How did he/she live? What was his/her quality of living/standards?

- What was happening in the region while he was growing up? Any marking events?

- Does he have any immediate relatives? If so, how did he get along with them? What are they doing now? How many sisters or brothers does he have? What are their names? Where are they now? What are they doing?

- Any marking events in the familky's history? Fortune made of lost? Migrations? Lost members? Found members? Death? Births? Crimes? Great acts of philantrophy?

-Is he/she well-educated? Where and under who did he/she study?

Recent History/Entry into Adulthood

- Where is he/she living now? Is he patriotic about his current locale? How is he/she living? What are his living conditions? How does it affect him?

- Who are his close friends? Why? How did they become close friends? Does he currently have a love or exclusive relation of some sort? Who is this special person?

- Who does he deal with on a frequent basis? Why?

- Does he have anyone who dislikes him? Is each person currently acting on it, or just passive about it? Why does he dislike him?

- Does he have any enemies with deep-seated harteds? Blood feuds Vendettas? Why? How are they acting out his hatred in relation to him?

- Any marking events in his recent past? Did he commit a crime? Any acts of great philantrophy/heroism?

Motivation

- What are your character's immidiate goals in the next year? What does he want out of life at the moment?

- What are his long-term goals, in the next five, ten or twenty years? What does he want out of life in the long run? Fame? Fortune? Family? Land? Enemies Crushed? Nothing?

- What type of person would be his ideal mate?

- Who is his patron deity? Is he a devout worshiper? (i.e. Is he a loyal servant of a king, baron, organization, etc?

- Is there any race, creed, alignment, religion or the like which he cannot stand? Does he fight against them?

- What is his greatest fear?

- What is his Greatest Hope?

-What is the one task he absolutly refuses to do?

Character (more in depth)

- What ais your character's motto or favourite saying?

- What is his favourite colour?

- Describe what he would wear if money were no object. What does he usually dress like?

- What is his favourite food / drink?

- What habits of his friends annoy him most?

I Hope you have read all of the above points, and now have a clear idea of what your character is like. Now with your new background, and his personal likings/dislikes, you can work out his personality. Ask yourself, what events in his background made him to be this way? Don't make your background too elaborate for your character. the goal here is to make things as realistic as possible.

If conditions apply, you may have to change your characters physical description in order to make it work out with his background. But please do not change ANYTHING during the game (physical description changes will be controlled by the DM and Assistant).

NOW IS THE TIME TO CHANGE THINGS. Write your information down, or type it up so you have it ready for future use and for when you sign-up. Make sure you have a character which you like and will find interesting to play, or else it will not be fun to play that character. During the game, make sure that you KEEP THIS CHARACTER. That is why you should make sure you kow exactly what you want NOW. You will be awarded points for keeping in character during your responses. If you wish, the characters style of typing (e.g. Spelling) may be personalised to him.
