Here's my life in the Year
...
2001
- 12.19 - Went snowboarding
for the first time. My goal was to be able to make it down the
left side of the Coach lift (looking uphill) by the end of the
night. I did it. Only two major crashes all night. One of them I
caught the front edge as I was facing downhill and planted my
shoulder into the snow. Fortunately the snow was still really
soft and gave way on impact. Second major wreck was a tumbler. I
had worked up some confidence on the board and making turns, but
got going too fast, caught the back edge of the board and sort
flipped end over end, hitting my tailbone first, then
whiplashing my head so my goggles and hat went flying. I laid
there for a while until I felt like moving. But after that
everything went well. Kinda like falling while climbing ... get
it out of the way then you're OK. After doing both, I think
snowboarding is easier for me to learn than skiing was ... but
then I had that background. Now I gotta buy a board. Oh, yeah,
Jesi went with me and did really well for here second time on
the hill. Has that snowplow down.
- 12.18 - Jessi and I had
dinner at Asiago's ... I had Insalata ... salad with red bell
peppers, portabella mushrooms, garlic cloves and artichoke
hearts .. I ate half before I got tired of it ... atmosphere and
service were good though.
- 12.18 - First day of skiing
at Bogus Basin. Great powder, good snow ... started out a really
nice day, then became cloudy and snowy (good for more snow, bad
cause I couldn't see where I was skiing).
- 12.20 - Bday .... 29 is
just around the corner.
- 12.09 - John is officially
moving out. I gotta find a new roommie. Anybody interested?
- 12.08 - Bad computer day:
MicronPC finally fixes my computer. The problem was exactly what
I said it was ... a bad motherboard. Also on this day, ATT.net
charges me for two months service even though I sent a
cancellation e-mail to them in early November. Per their screwed
up system, they send me notices to my att.net e-mail account ...
which I never check because I thought it was canceled. If you
read this and are thinking about an ISP ... DON'T USE ATT WORLDNET
...
- 11. Thanksgiving - Went to
Matt and Deb's in Richland with Mom, Dad, Scott, his girlfriend
Elizabeth and my friend April, an intern from Tennessee.
- 11.14? - Revibe the Vibe
... a rave in the middle of nowhere Kuna. It was fun, but
probably the last one I'll go to around here (I'm just too old
for the scene here).
- 11.00 - My cat becomes a
$200 cat after final round of vet bills (shots, tests, etc.).
But she is healthy and fun to have around.
- 11.00 - Spent nearly every
weekend trying to get MicronPC to fix my PC.
- 11.04 - Saw Jane's
Addiction. Fell and gave myself whiplash. It was a free ticket
that cost me $252.
- 10.30 - Bought a
refurbished Micron PC (Pent. III 933). Immediately had problems
(yay!)
- 10.00 - Rural Idaho site
launched. Worked too much.
- 09.22-23 - John, Tammy, Niffer, Michael
and I caught Rubberneck
at Grainey's ... still good and some of the best tunes to dance
to, but I think they're giving up ... played the same set both
nights, though Saturday's was much better. I danced with cute
girl but didn't get her name before she left. Oh, well.
- 09.17 - Jessi and I part ways. Amicably
and mutually.
- 09.11 - Attack on America, a day of a
lifetime ... The events of 9/11 were both tragic and amazing. If
you'd like to help the relief effort, please click
here. With the help of everyone in my department, we manned
the Web site round the clock for about 5 straight days. I worked
37 hours in three days and ran on adrenaline for most of the
last two weeks. (IS.com

- 08.xx - Scott moves back to Montana!
- 08.21 - Living Daylights at Bourbon
Street Saloon (Big Easy), Boise ... I'd seen them before at
Grainey's (Boise), but this show was 10 times better ... Bought
all three albums and had them sign the newest one "electric
rosary" - link
- 08.03-08.05 - Jessi and I went to my
10-year high school reunion in Bozeman, Mont. - link
- Also sprinted
through Yellowstone National Park.
- 07.30 - Crystal Method at Big Easy,
Boise - link
- 07.21-07.25 - Kevin and I backpacked
into Bighorn Crags in the Frank Church River of No Return
Wilderness and climbed the South Face of Knuckle Peak ... we
think a first ascent.
- 06.22-06.30 - Jessi and I spent a
fantastic week in Cozumel, Mexico at Sol Caribe Hotel and
Resort.
- 06.00 - 1 year review as content editor
(got a raise, mostly good remarks)
- 05.26-05.29 - I visited my bro in
Milwaukee, went climbing with his girlfriend (Britney) at
Devil's Lake, Wisc.
- 03.00 -- 2 years at the Statesman

(dating)
