Wysinger Family History
More About the Sisters
Let's see now, there was Aunt Tug, Virginia Rebecca Wysinger Toney. She was quite the beauty. But she lefted us at a young age. She was the mother of Albert Toney, Sr.; John Henry Toney,Jr.; Robert Toney; and Edna Mae Toney Goss. She and her Sisters were very close. They sat counsel with the young women of the family. They made the decision on what needed to be done when the time came. When Aunt Tug fall ill to cancer, the sisters took turns nursing, cooking, and cleaning. She wanted Edna Mae to be raised by Aunt Katie. When the time came Albert made the arrangements and in 1946, Edna Mae went to Cleveland, OH to live with Aunt Katie.
Next there was my mother, Laura Bell Wysinger Felix. She named me after Aunt Tug, but my name is not Virginia. Needless to say, my mother was a very strong and wise woman. She raised five children alone. She did have her sisters to help. Mother named one of my brothers after her Uncle Calvin, and one after her brother Andrew, we knew him as Uncle Mack. Mother also helped me raised my three children. They have richer lives because of it, too. My mother taught all of the male members of our family to cook and clean. My brothers and eldest son were excellent tenders of the homestead. All their memories of Mother were very pleasant.
Aunt Rachel was a gentle soul with a good heart. She had thirteen children and got plenty help from her mother and sisters. Big Mama raised Betty B or Elizabeth McCray Owens. Joyce was Aunt Emma's girl. She had twins, Ethel Mae and Evelyn. Evelyn was my traveling buddy. She tell stories of how I watched out for her, especially with the boyfriends! We all were really close.
Last but not least, was Aunt Katie. She raised Edna Mae then when Aunt Mel got older she came to live with her. So, the youngest and the oldest were together. Aunt Mel lived to be 94 years old, and died in 1980.
Aunt Katie had a niece named after her, one of Aunt Edora's daughters. She is Katie Wilson Mix, and lives in Huntsville, AL. Katie's younger sister Laura Wilson Moore was named for my mother and our grandmother. Aunt Katie and Aunt Rachel both died in 1976.

Uncle Mack was the last of the third generation Wysingers. However, he did not spell his name in the original fashion. He was known as Mack Weisinger. Uncle Mack left us in 1991 at the age of 94. My brother, his namesake also died that year.
