My Cabin On The Lake

When I’m away to long, my heart starts to ache,
I love my little Cabin on the lake.
The lake is clean, the sky so blue,
I never lack for things to do.

Past memories come to mind when I am here,
I think of friends and relatives whom I hold dear.
The enchanting cry of a loon, woke me late one night.
Its sweet song echoed down the lake, was simply pure delight.

One day lightning danced across the sky,
so I sat on the porch to watch a storm pass by.
I sipped my coffee and let my senses have their fill,
While the cool damp air caused me to chill.

I went inside to sit by the fire,
The peace and contentment made me tire.
I laid down for a while to take a nap,
only to be awakened by a woodpeckers tap.

I went outside and was happy to see,
A double rainbow set high over the trees.
Nature is so lovely, how happy I felt,
I heard a splash and thought my heart would melt.

A mother loon floated by with a baby at her side,
Another climbed onto her back to hitch a free ride.
The proud father cried out with pride,
and swam ahead, as if to be their guide.

Last night as I watched the stars above,
I couldn’t believe my eyes, when an eerie,
aurora borealis began to arch across the sky.

Am I dreaming, is this for real,
No wonder I come here myself to heal.
This must be what heaven is like, my cabin on the lake.
It’s so beautiful and relaxing, a blessing to partake.

A Work of Art
An Artist am I, to paint what I see,
Close to Nature's where I want to be.
A rustic cabin by a mountain stream,
A place to paint, a place to dream.

The trees sway as the wind blows through,
Leaves swirl upward toward the sky so blue.
Thick paint spread with my palette knife,
Mother Nature comes through, energized with life.

Sparkling water takes my breath away,
Sprinkled with diamonds, A grand display.
I soar like an eagle with outstretched wings,
Lost in thought, as my paint brush sings.

A magnificent forest, the smell of Pine,
Sometimes I feel God's hand on mine.
Only peace and contentment do I feel in my heart,
It's an honor to be painting God's work of art.

My Visitor

I had a visitor this morning, As I chopped some wood.
A chipmunk stopped by, Close to where I stood.

"Hi, Little Fellow, How are you today?"
He ran around like he wanted to play.

"You're a cute little rascal, would you like a treat?"
He looked up at me, as he stood at my feet.

With nuts in my hand, I got down to a crouch.
He stood in my hand,  as he stuffed his pouch.

The next morning, I was happy to see,
That little critter was waiting for me!

A gift from nature, Oh so grand.
To have a chipmunk eat out of my hand.

"We All Meet Once A month"

We all meet once a month,
Because we love and care.
We laugh, we cry, we sing our songs,
A special bond we share.

We all have special gifts,
from our mom and dad.
We share memories of the past,
Some happy, some are sad.

We all meet once a month,
To share our hopes and dreams.
For when we go are separate ways,
We no not what life brings.

Our Silver Anniversary

I wanted you for my husband,
from our very first date.
Our lives had many twists and turns,
So it had to be fate.

You took me under your wings,
and gave me a second chance.
You looked into my  eyes with love,
especially when we danced.

A steady stream of dreams,
has filled my life for years.
Unlike before I met you,
It was only filled with tears.

Angels watch over us,
as we stand hand in hand..
I know at times, theirs were,
the foot prints in the sand.

Twenty-five years of happiness,
it was to be your wife.
An honor and a pleasure,
to share with you my life.

It's our Silver Anniversary,
I know we're getting old..
But with God's help, a little luck,
Lets Go for the Gold!
