Here is an example of what can be done with a clear glass coffee cup. You can customize them to your heart's content.

Again, this was done with photo resist. It is amazing at the detail that you can achieve.

You do need to look for cups with a relatively flat curved surface...that sound strange, but you want the curve to only go one direction. Putting resist on a surface that is curved in two directions, like a ball, doesn't allow the resist to sit smoothly enough to get a good blasting mask.

walkcup.jpg (108035 bytes) This cup is ceramic. You can find them at almost any store that carries kitchenware or glassware.

The trick here is to blast through the colored ceramic coating on the mug. It brings the color of the actual ceramic out which is a pale cream color in most cases.

It looks very nice and as you can see, you can obtain some very fine detail as well.

This is a computer graphic that I created on the computer and simply transferred to photo resist.

Additionally, you can carve on champagne glasses (be careful, they are thin) candy dishes, flower vases, bowls, and the list just goes on and on. Your imagination is all that it takes to create something really special and unusual. Touring the import shops is a great place to find items to blast on - and many are inexpensive enough to provide good practice or trial pieces.

Got any suggestions? Let me know what you find! [email protected]
