Chapter Thirteen of Choirgirl HOTeL…
Written by Jamie Barshoe
As Jenn helped the overly distraught Karol to the awaiting dark maroon SUV waiting in the driveway of the cemetery, Jamie hung back to say her final good-bye to Gregg.
"Bye Gregg, I'm sorry it had to end like this for you", she said with a bit of emotion, "I hope you are going to a land full of carrots and screw on asses, where you can frolic on the mosses of tall mountains."--She was still a little out of it after the time spent in the jail cell with Adrienne who kept signing that annoying Boston man song.
Jenn, Karol, Jamie, and Kyribelle (who had mysteriously driven up in the car to the cemetery) got into the car and headed back towards the hotel, that was all to familiar to them now. About 10 miles from The ChoirGirl HOTeL, the four girls stopped at a small dinner for some early dinner, late lunch.
--At Dawe's Diner---
Sitting at a table alone at the Diner was a mysteriously handsome stranger, wearing a long black coat and a dark hat. He was looking at a newspaper, but was too distracted by his thoughts to be reading it. He couldn't get over what he had seen through the basement windows of the ChoirGirl HOTeL.
Then the four drowned rats (a.k.a. Jenn, Jamie Karol and Kyribelle) came into the diner. All they wanted was a hot meal and a good cup of coffee (or tea if you prefer)"I just can't believe that my Greggy-pooh is gone," sobbed Karol, "we were supposed to get m-m-m-m-married, ahhhhh!"
"It'll be Ok Karol, we'll get to the bottom of this whole ordeal, that'll help" said Jenn therapeutically. The girls sat around the booth discussing the events of the last day and a half. Jamie was drinking her black coffee with eight sugars, Kyribelle had a glass of root beer, and Jenn and Karol each had ordered a vanilla cup of chino.
"I just wonder what Gregg meant when he said "Destructive Material"" Jamie said loud enough for the whole diner to hear. "Destructive Material" thought Dan, the stranger at the diner, "I wonder if that's the same thing that I witnessed today?"
Dan jolted out of booth (as fast as you can jolt out of a booth) and ran to the table behind him with the four somber looking girls. "I think that I may be able to help you," he said with a look of amusement, surprise and excitement on his face all at once.
"I was working on a case involving the undercover operation of an ex-child star and an FBI agent, (for clarification, not Fox) who had gone bad this afternoon at the ChoirGirl HOTeL, when I saw a man drop something into a barrel marked "DESTRUCTIVE MATERIAL," said Dan.
The girls were at first shocked at all this information this mysterious stranger had offered them, but quickly got over that, invited him to join them, and started to compare "notes" so to speak.
----Meanwhile in Fox's Car----
"ADRIENNE...can you please stop kissing me for one minute so I can think. We'll have plenty of time for that on Saturday night" yelled Fox Mulder "OK... Let me help you figure out what’s going on" Adrienne said soothingly.
The two pulled over and started the story from the beginning. Fox desperately wanted to find the disk that had been in Sarah Smith’s apartment, but where was it. Disks just don't get up and Conga out the door and disappear into thin air. Fox and Adrienne just sat in the car thinking for about an hour and a half, until they decided to head back towards the Hotel and the Smith apartment to see what evidence they could find.
----Back at the ChoirGirl HOTeL ----
"Ahhh, I am soo glad that is taken care of. Who would have known that I would have graduated with an English degree, joined the FBI, met Danna Poulvelli the famous star, and then turned evil to help hide evidence." gasped Pete at the thought of his own life... had he really wasted it that badly?
"At least that disk should be taken care of, that’s what Danna asked me to do, I can't wait till all this gets cleared up so I can stop this crappy bellboy job" He was so fascinated by Danna, that he would do anything Danna told him to do.
So when Danna had said, "get rid of this disk for good", Pete did all that he could think of (it wasn't much) to hide it. Danna didn't need that disk anyway, he was a smart computer child star, and he had made a backup copy.
This backup copy was hidden somewhere safe and secluded. It was within easy access and he could get to it anytime. The only reason that he had let Pete help him was so that there was someone to frame if the original disk had ever been found. At the thought of this... (framing Pete) a sly smile came across Danna's face.
"Alright, I have got it all and a bag of chips, rock on!" and with that he went back to his hotel room. (he had been let out of jail by Pete, using his F.B.I status)
----Back at Dawe's Diner----
"Ok... say we get in the car, go the Hotel and see if we can't find the disk", suggested Jenn. "Sounds like a plan," smiled Jamie, Kyribelle, and even Karol.
The group of formerly depressed, but suddenly giddy with anticipation, girls, along with the mysteriously handsome stranger wearing black, now identified as Dan, got into the car and sped so fast out of the driveway that stones flew up and broke the windows of the diner. They were headed to...
FOOTNOTE…
Is Danna really guilty, will the girls save the day, will Fox and Adrienne have their date... will Dan find the disk, is Sarah Smith really who we think she is? Maybe we'll find the answers to these questions; maybe new questions will be raised...
