Barbra's Albums
Exceptions, explanations, definitions, and
differences
With such a long career in the music industry and so
many recordings,
differences were bound to occur in Streisand's albums.
Here are the most noteworthy for the collector of Barbra's oeuvre:
- Two of the albums listed are, strictly speaking, non-Streisand
recordings
- Harold Sings Arlen (with Friend) features Barbra on two of
the albums songs--both are also on Just for the Record...
- Frank Sinatra: Duets has one duet between Barbra and
Ol' Blue Eyes
- Two albums listed do not contain any Streisand singing at all
- The Owl and the Pussycat has outakes of Barbra's dialogue
from the movie
- Nuts is strictly music that Barbra composed for her film
- All of the cast albums and soundtracks (except Yentl) contain
some amount of material without any Streisand vocals. Four in particular
should be noted:
- Eyes of Laura Mars only has Barbra singing "Prisoner"--
which is available on Greatest Hits, Volume 2
- The Main Event features Barbra just on the three different
versions of the title song
- The Prince of Tides contains only two ballads, neither were
used in the film
- The Mirror Has Two Faces has two BJS vocals: a solo by
Barbra (not used in the movie) and her duet with Bryan Adams
- Album title inconsistencies
- The Way We Were was officially/legally renamed to
Barbra Streisand...Featuring "The Way Were" and "All in Love Is
Fair"
- Memories was released in the UK under the title Love
Songs
- Album Availability
- Never Relased on CD
- Owl and the Pussycat
- Eyes of Laura Mars
- Out of Print CDs
- Funny Lady--Bay Cities version; being re-released on
