Open house means everybody is welcome to enjoy the beautiful countryside and paint. Bob and Carla will take you to market town, forests and rivers. NO tuition !
Ken Ray RA BA WSAD is a Brit with a great sense of humor and has a lot of pleasure in giving demonstrations in no matter what medium or subject. A very encouraging tutor, with his own exhibitions in London (Christies, Chalk Farm Galleries etc.) and demonstrating the use of w.c., oils, pastels, charcoal, acrylic and tempera to numerous art societies. Organizing, directing and teaching at own painting school, and organized summer painting schools in Portugal, Wales, Sussex, Cornwall and Dorset. Commissioned to paint murals all over Great Britain and made a comprehensive art video for PAINT IT!
John Noy.(Dutch) A pleasant personality, a sympathetic and encouraging art tutor for all levels. Skilled and experienced, and very helpful with perspective. All mediums.
Herman Damen. Studied at the Royal Art Academy.
Herman is a professional artist and has taught in art colleges and adult classes for many years, and achieves more through humor and gentle pushing than his students would have ever imagined. He has a fund of knowledge of the painting problems that may be encountered and how to overcome them. He also gives portrait classes in the International Art Club - Holland, and he exhibits often - and is Art Director of an important Art Society.
Herman will come to each painter individually to help and advise. Before the evening meal there will be informal critique and a general discussion. You may return home with a nice collection of much improved water colours. Herman's aim is to introduce you to the pleasure of painting "en plein air" in the warmth and comfort of this area which is is full of character and steeped in history.
Toon de Haas. A great internationally known Dutch artist, very flamboyant.
Sally Northwood - NO tuition.
Although Sally is a fully qualified art tutor, there will be no tuition these two splendid weeks. The more experienced painters are welcome to do their own thing!
David Tress BA Fine Art - all mediums.
All are welcome on David Tress's course, which contains many demonstrations and a slide show of his own work. Less experienced people will be encouraged by his enthusiasm, but advanced painters will find his willingness to share his wide knowledge - obtained over years of experience - valuable and stimulating. An absolute master of light and shadow.
Ruud de Brouwer - Professional photographer.
Works freelance and gets commissions: portraits, landscapes, still life, etc. and gives courses at art centers in the Netherlands. In Pourpry he will give demonstrations, lectures, slide show and critic, and he will work with you on landscape and townscape pictures, industrial and romantic impressions as well as abstrahations of the subjects. What you need is camera (SLR), if possible a tripod, filters and film. Please bring some of your own work! The course runs from 9 till 13.30 hr. - afternoon free to do as you like: swimming, lazying, talking about photography or taking pictures.
Tom Coates. A vigorous and spontaneous painter. He reacts with a sense of immediacy to what he sees. Born in 1941, studied at the Bournville College of Art, Birmingham College of Art, Royal Academy of Schools.
Won many, many awards and medals with his paintings, exhibits at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions since 1980.
