The winds shall calm at my word
The seas shall part before my feet
I hold in my pen the entire world
A world my to control as I please.
All mine to create or destroy
To mold it and shape it like a toy
All mine to turn upside down
I am its queen; I hold the crown.
For the universe to live it needs my touch
Though for others that may not matter much
For me it is father, brother and lover
It is sadness joy and laughter.
          'Tis true what philosophers say
Even all the peoples admit today
Imagination is inspired by the Lord
And the pen is truly mightier than the sword.

This is one of those poems which I wrote for fun. In fact, the first stanza, I created while I was thinking of a good quote for my poetry book. It is interesting to note that we writers consider our Art the one thing that keeps us alive and breathing. It is true for most probably because amateur writers simply can't support themselves by just publishing their works. Poets are especially hard- pressed when it comes to earning a living by their Art. Some people these days don't seem to appreciate the finer poetic side of life. Most simply care for something that's straight to the point and matter-of-fact. And yes, we seem to forget our true inner beauty, our poetic beauty, because our minds today are clouded by scientific knowledge and logic. We forget that poetry is an expression of beauty not found on the surface of a living being. We forget that it is a luxury in life that every man, rich or poor, can afford.
