Welcome, holiday traveler. You have reached the section of my realm containing poetry by Anna. A talented writer, I thank Anna for entering. May Anna's holiday season be merry and bright.
A Christmas Wish
There was a Christmas Wish
Rushed north by my friend, Fish;
Who hoped not to become a dinner dish;
But if he did, he'd taste delish'!
He hunted high and low;
The going was mighty slow;
Lot's of time he did blow;
Wishing he'd never have to go.
Finally, he found a place to hide;
So he could avoid the fishhook ride;
Except there was no water at low tide;
He lay and watched Christmas lights
blinking on the quayside.
Beautiful red, green and whites,
Sparkling and twinkling little lights,
Behind the net a boy pulled tight;
There was no hook to bite!
Tim sat beside his kite,
Depicting a snowy Christmas site,
With hunger, his head was light,
But a fish in net - what a delight.
Rushing passed the holiday display;
Home to make his mother happy and gay;
Proudly he placed his prize from the bay
On the plain silver tray.
"Mother, tonight we will eat,
This wonderous little treat,
Fish is good in the absence of meat,
So relax in your comfy soft seat."
As he scale and filleted the fish,
He thanked the Good Lord for fulfilling
his Christmas Wish
Which now tasted mighty delish!!
A Holiday Treat
For food and drinks, people do meet;
Good tidings to all, hear them greet
Every Tom, Dick and Pete.
Holiday cheer is such a treat!
Holiday sleighs on park paths-clopping;
Everyone so busy with shopping,
Arms full and everything's dropping;
Lets eat desserts with a special topping
Ice cream with cherries;
Pies with whip cream and berries;
Especially enjoyed by all the fairies
Named Gary, Harry, and Terry.
Of course, there are lots of cookies
Thoroughly enjoyed by the cop rookies
Who walk their beat
Enjoying such a holiday treat.
To add to the joy,
They stop to watch the boy,
Who is neither shy nor coy,
At the window he asks for toy after toy.
On the corner is a group of girls;
Under hats are their bunch of curls;
The band majorette impressively twirls;
And, the flag unfurls,
As the wind, the leaves swirl.
It's nice to see everyone share,
Donations given with flare,
Holiday music does blare;
Tis holiday cheer in the air!
